Passing inspection in MD...

Hey guys. Question. My girl did me the ultimate niceness and took my car and had it tinted (to my surprize.) Only problem is that the car needs a state inspection... Any spots you know of where the guys will ignore the tint? It's 20 percent.

There was a guy in Bethesda who let me pass when I took my tint (35%) off the front side windows after purchase, but still had it on the back windows and rear. Only reason he let me pass was I had previously had an SUV that didn't pass with its 20%. Apparently the SUV law is any tint on back and rear, but NONE on the front windows. However, the passenger car law is no tint anywhere if I recall correctly. He felt bad I had gone to the extra effort of trying to comply with what I was told was the law with my old car, but no one had clarified that law only applied to SUVs.

Anyway, to get more to the point, your best bet is to go in person to an inspection station and ask the inspector himself. Just tell him you're going to go to another shop and maybe he'll cut you a break. That having been said I'm sure someone here knows someone who will do it for you and can save you the trouble of shopping around. Good luck!
