Is it Zaino time?

Whats up.. I got my G June 29th and i think its time i put a wax or polish on it cause i see swirls and the weather is changing. Please help me with any opinions on what to do. Should i put Zaino products on it and if so which products, where can i buy them, and how do i apply it?
Appreciate it.

Re: Is it Zaino time?

I have 3 suggestions for ya! Zaino, Zaino, and Zaino!!!!
Do a google for Zaino Brothers and hit their website. Buy their complete starter kit (2 avail - 1 with leather cleaner/conditioner 1 without. I reco it, good stuff!) Supposedly there is also a distributor in BK too. The stuff will take some patience for the first application. If you decide on the zaino, PM and I can give you some helpful tips! Seeing as winter is approaching, Zaino or other synthetic polishes, such as Klasse, are probably your best bet since they last longer.

I should've known you were going to jump all over this one.. lol.

Anyways, I'm planning on applying Zaino to my car this weekend, most likely on Sunday. I just bought another claybar from them.. their stuff is definitely top notch.

If you claybar, ur gonna remove all the wax you built up all summer! I would probably wait until the spring to clay it. Just a suggestion. Perhaps you just want it a little smoother so you can keep up with me and Marty on Ocean Pkwy!!!

Drew, so what are you suggesting... just Dawn, wipe, then use Z2/Z5? I'm afraid if I do that I might have some microscopic dirt stuck below the thousands of layers I'll be piling on..

I'm using Nanowax right now.. my last coat was 2 weeks ago and that made it 4 coats. I want to make a transition over to Zaino before the harsh winter hits.. you think it's a go?

Re: Is it Zaino time?

Leeno, I haven't done jack yet. But, from what I've been told (by a few Zaino fanatics I know), it goes like this:

if this is your first application of Zaino, then you should do the following (Drew, please lemme know what you think):

1. Dawn Wash
2. Clay
3. z7 Showcar wash
4. Dry

If necessary:

5. Squirl Remove (such as Meguirs #9)
6. Paint Prep (P21S or Klasse AIO [all in one])
7. Z7 Wash Again

8. Z5 (2 + coats with Z6 spray in between each coat)
9. Z2 (As many coats as you can physically handle w/ Z6 between each coat)

Talking to a few Zaino heads (Afr0Puff included), using Zaino clay bar on top of zaino will not remove zaino, but it may weaken it enough that you should apply a coat on top. If this is a first zaino app (especially in your case a transition) you should probably clay it up.

One of my boys gave me a great tip: do only one section per sitting. Then it won't seem so cumbersome.

If you don't need it, skip 5, 6, 7.

This is how I've been told it should be done (i.e. not from experience). Drew, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah I've used Zaino before on my previous car (IS300) and it came out real nice. The instructions that came with the kit sounds pretty close to what you wrote, but is missing the ZFX. I'll be checking weather.com frequently to see which day I should do this on..

By the way, I won't need that "Squirrel" remover!! LOL!!! =D

Re: Is it Zaino time?

I would use a little bit of Dawn, wash, then Clay the car with a NEW clay bar (using a soapy solution of Zaino soap and water as a lubricant), then you are supposed to wash the car again, do 1-5 coats of Z5 (swirl mark/light scratches) then 1-2 coats of Z2 polish. My first application, I skipped the post clay wash and did 1 or 2 coats of Z5 then 1 of Z2 (All using ZFX).
