First let me say New York is easily the greatest city on the planet! I love New York. Depending on plane fares, I'm thinking of going to the New York Auto Show the end of this month beginning of next. Since I'll be using my feet to get around, I'm hoping some of you New Yorkers can suggest a descent hotel reasonably near (within 5 miles) the Javits Convention Center.

you really can't go wrong w/ any of the hotels listed on autoshowny.com, they are all very nice hotels. some of the new hotels in soho and tribeca are nice also (their names slip my mind atm). you don't necessarily need to hoof it, just pick up an unlimited metrocard for the duration of your stay, and you can pretty much get around anywhere. enjoy your visit...

 

On a side note: How far is Laguardia (sp) Airport from the Javits Convention. About how much would a taxi fare be from Laguardia to Javits?

 

i thought it used to be fixed, however according to port authority:
Taxi
Fare Range $21 - $30 plus tolls

and normally 20-30 minutes, but it could be longer during rush hour
