short shifter install?

I bought the Rogue short shifter and kind of hesitant to do the install myself, although the instructions don't look that hard. Is there a shop in North Jersey or maybe even Brooklyn (I am originally from Brooklyn) that is familiar with the installation and does not charge an arm and a leg? A friend of mine had a shop in brooklyn install a short shifter on his Audi and they didn't seem to know what they were doing. I think he paid $80 for the install.
I would appreciate your feedback on this. I wanted to do it myself, but am worried about screwing something up, thats why I am leaning more towards a shop doing the job.

I'm in Jersey at the infiniti dealership if you want me to install the shifter. I'll admit i've never installed an aftermarket shifter in a G, but I cant see it being much different from the original ones.

I've taken out a couple of shifters while doing tranny swaps.

Dude it's crazy easy! The hardest part is putting the weather boot over the linkage again! lol

All you need are jackstands! To make it really easy, buy the shifter cup but you can re-use the old one too if you prefer. It's only 1 bolt that connects the linkage to the shifter and that takes 2 minutes!

Very Easy! Do it yourself this weekend as we are supposed to actually have SUN and no rain!

Yea... short shifter install is easy... the hardest part after you get the stock shift **** off is getting under the car for that single bolt...

In Englewood NJ. 5 minutes from the GWB off of route 4.

Let me know if you're interested. I would say do it your self if you have the time, patience, and tools.

Well, I installed the rogue this weekend. The install was fairly simple with the exception of taking off the shift ****, it was a bitch to do. At first I tried using the adjustable crescent wrench with cloth and ended up slightly damaging the leather on the **** with the teeth of the wrench, which went right through the cloth. I ended up using the normal wrench without teeth, I dont remember the size, I think it was a bit larger than an inch and it was a perfect fit with one layer of cloth in between. Since it didnt have teeth it was much safer for the leather around the ****.
I called 2 infiniti dealerships and a nissan to see if they carried the shifter cup, but they dont stock it. I had to do the install this weekend and didnt want to order it and wait. It was a little difficult to remove the plastic cup from the shifter, I accidentally broke two plastic teeth inside that hold the shifter, but its not a big deal since the other teeth still hold the shifter in place. The way I took out the cup was by placing the whole assembly between two wooden boards and banging the shifter out of the cup with a rubber hammer. The whole install process took about 1 1/2 hours.
The shifts are shorter but not too short, which is why I got the rogue over the other shifters. The feel is a lot more solid than the original, although it does take a little bit of extra work to shift, which should losen up with time.
Thanks for your input, I think this is a great DIY mod.
