I had no problem driving to work in my G35C, though the highway was not even plowed (I'm using the Avon M550 A/S). The car felt stable and secure (except for going uphill
). With the VDC off I could get the tail out whenever I please (I could drift the car [at any angle I please] entering intersections and sidestreets)
. God I love winter driving

Hey all, I'm in Providence, where they don't plow worth a damn and the drivers all pretty much are clueless. My snow tires kinda came a little late, found them at my door after work today, after being shipped from Tirerack.com. But I decided, what the hey, there's still a ton of snow and ice on the ground (things were especially bad on side streets cause they hadn't plowed yet, and the mix of rain and snow made for lines of ice where people had driven on the mush and compacted it) Even my Civic with snow tires had trouble climbing the hills up to my house. I didn't think the G would fare much better, but I decided to put the tires on tonight anyway and try it out. Wow, the G is a really stable and smooth performer in the snow with the right rubber on. Tail slip is minimal, and is much more dependent on how much lead you have in your foot than it is on how much traction you have. Cornering and braking are very good, even better than the FWD and AWD cars I'd driven in the snow in the past (probably because the advancements in ABS and traction control exist on the G that those cars didn't have). I have to say the driving conditions were as bad as I'd ever seen (pure snow isn't a problem to drive in, unless its over the hood of your car). Ice on the roads is as bad as it gets, and tonight there was an abundance of it on the roads. But the G35 handled all of it with aplomb. Wow, I thought people on this board were making an overstatment when they said that the G does very well in snow, but I was wrong. It does really do very well, the bigger issue is the ground clearance (had some chunks of ice in the middle of the road come up and scrape the underbody a few times).
BTW, I got Sports Edition E3 17" rims + Dunlop Graspic DS2 tires from Tirerack for $870 shipped to my door, a pretty good deal considering the added safety I have now. There went on an 05 Coupe 6MT.

Thanks to the trusty vdub with HID's
Way too embrassing not being able to get out of a parking spot with minor snow around and or not being able to go up small inclines.
