this happened to a friend of mine, and it got me thinking. what is the appropriate course of action when you find that a parking garage damages your car? how would one go about getting the establishment to fix it?

my friend parks in this particular garage. the first time he found a scratch, he didn't make a big deal of it. the second time it happened, he raised bloddy hell. as expected the parking attendant denied any responsibility, and had them fill out a report which would be sent to the management office. to me that seemed rather flimsy. so i ask all of you, what does one do in a situation like this?
