FS: Escort Passport 8500 x50 Red | $245

I'm selling my 2-month old PERFECT condition radar detector. Wanted to offer this great deal to local members first. The cheapest price I have found online is $299.99 so this is a steal.

This has saved me from the police so many times. Especially when I'm coming home on a route I know that is usually not patrolled by cops. I'm warned ahead of time that there is a cop shooting a radar and am able to slow down and pass at the posted speed.

I'm only selling it because when I purchased this radar initially, I bought two (one for each car). It's not much of a hassle to move the radar from one car to another, so I have decided that I might as well sell it.

I'm asking $245 for the radar. It pays for itself the first time it saves you!

I always wonder if these radar detector is really working or not. These radar detectors would detect police's radar scanner or speed gun but what if these police turn off their radar and base on their "professional" eyes to catch speeder? If they can do that without use their radar gun, we doom???
I was thinking to get one but I am still hestitate about it. Anyone would give me some feedback? really appreciate your personal input!!

I have a radar detector in my G and love it to death. It has paid for itself at least a couple times. It is true that if the radar is off it doesn't pick them up. But if you contested that ticket in court it would be a tough sell for the cop to say "I guesstimated he was going 15 over the limit" and pulled him over. Typically they use the gun to have some actual evidence that you were speeding. Plus it saves you from those spots where they are hiding on a side street etc. If it saves you once then it pays for itself between the price of the ticket and any increased insurance premium. Just my 2 cents though.

Hey, thanks for your input....where I live now, Fresno! these motorcycle cops just park their bike and look at the traffic. When he/she thinks that car is speeding, then they would use their radar gun to record the speed. By the time our car radar detector is catch up their signal, I would think it is a bit too late to slow down because they are on our back now...
I assume radar detector is perfectly street legal right? I mean we dont have to hide it whenever they park next to us? :-)

Sac2904,
Glad my 2 cents helped! A radar detector is never a sure-fire way to find a hiding cop but it certainly helps more than it hurts. Those ones that hide out and pick out random cars really bug me, but it's their job so I can’t blame them. You just have to hope they shoot someone ahead of you before you get there and the detector picks it up so you can slow down if you are over the posted limit. Radar “detectors” in CA are ok, so no reason to hide them when the local cop is next to you staring longingly dreaming of rolling is such a nice ride instead of a Crown Vic. =-)

I have one of these and simply can't drive without one anymore. I paid around $300 for mine and its more than repayed itself to me! You just need to understand what the different bands mean and when on the freeway, Ka means there's a CHiPer nearby.

Radar detectors are a definite must have for "driving enthusiasts."

I can't even count how many times it's saved my rear. I don't have the best luck with cops. Great deal. If I didn't have a detector, I'd swoop that one up quick.

for everyone else looking for a good deal, go to corvetteforum.com and look for user DinoZ or just search for "radar". he's an authorized seller of escort x50's and quoted me $270 shipped to n. cali... definitely the best price out there. i'd join the forum and PM him to get the price. if you save yourself the $30 over the best price online, you owe me a beer
