Yeah I can't stand dstealership parts depts. When I went to Serramonte for my driver's side keyhole cover thing WAY back, I paid lik 34 bucks for it and they gave me the metal piece that goes inside. WTF, I then found out people were getting them for 13-15 bucks shipped. It's not a lot of money but when you pay nearly triple than it sucks. =)

I don't think car covers are worth it unless you are going to put the cover on only right after you wash and wax your car. Even if you put it on the same day you wash and wax your car after driving it, it will still scratch the clearcoat. Leaning on it will scratch the clearcoat and even may cause a ding.

34 bones for the escutcheon. A little higher than what I paid. The metal thing comes with it anyways.
Fairfield Dealer got me for 29.85 + tx. Yeah, saw that better price too. Oh well, least it wasn't a big ticket item for a lot less. But here what you're saying.

Agree somewhat on the car cover thing + plus it's a PITA when you need to get going in the mornings, but the bird droppings are a bugger when it eats through your clear coat and pits the paint.
Pros and Cons with car covers.

Have you guys seen those collapsing tent type mobile carport things? I think that is pretty cool idea but then your neighbors will probably think you are absolutely crazy. They think I am crazy already when it comes to cars. =P

I try to imagine what my neighbors are always thinking but I give up... we always have hot rides rolling by our house to say hello. They sit outside and stare thinking I own all of them... HA! I wish!!!

My neighbors always drive past with that look on their face... "wtf is that kid doing to his car now?" One of them suggested that I "just move into the garage." lol.

Jeff, I sent you an email. I'm assuming the parts on a boat crossing the Pacific?
