so i've been in the market for a car cover for my sedan and i've been going back and forth between buying oem and buying a coverking custom car cover from costco. online, i've found the oem car cover for $200-210 + shipping. the coverking cover was $168+tax+shipping, pretty close in cost.

i called around to local dealerships, namely oakland and frontier, and was quoted $312.50 and $350, respectively . WTF! crazy markup and even when i told them their prices were way more than what i was seeing online and more than infiniti's MSRP of $250, they didn't budge! to top it off, it wasn't even in stock and they want you to pay up front. of course, i said screw it and opted for the coverking custom cover from costco which coincidentally went down in price to $140+tax+shipping.

just had to rant about that....

 

Don't just love the Stealer...or rather the dealer.

 

got a universal cover from costco for a mere $30 if IIRC.... thicker and better than nissan/infiniti oem cover... by the way, my 2k2 maxima's cover fits my g like a glove (albeit showing some sideskirts like daisy dukes showing but cheeks)...

 

i can't do a universal cover b/c i'll be parking in a windy spot... universal covers go flying off

 

the dealership gets it higher than the costco products... i got a universal cover which i'm sufficient with.

 

still, when infiniti msrp is 250 and they're charging 350!? that's bogus

Keep in mind one thing when you purchase from costco on line vs. dealership.
At the dealership you get hosed not matter what you buy or fix. Once you buy, it's yours forever. However, at Costco, if for any reason you don't like the product, simply return it for a full refund or exchange, no questions asked. In addition, you will also get a refund for shipping and tax back.

Actually, if you purchase a new car through Costco referral system on line, I heard you get quite a discount.

 

Understand what you're saying but, if Infiniti's MSRP (and we all know what that means...marked up already...profit built in...only suggested RETAIL PRICE) is only $250, then anything more than MSRP is highway robbery and BS.

 

The dealerships are rediculous.!!
They wanted 85 dollars to put splash guards on my car.!!!

Dealer has a CAI for, if memory serves, about $350-375 (marked up already ) and like $475-525 installed!!
Hahahaha....oh yeah...sure...where do I sign bite me!!

 

Hmmmm, dont we all have that experiences about buy/services anything at the dealer would cost us an arm and a leg. I think because we have the car, these salemen would think we have too much money to burn or what?? Yeah, like we just got out of school yesterday!!! :P

in my eyes we're all consumers but this is my career to sell cars and earn the dealership business just like a shotgirl or hooters girl needs to make her tip and cash.

 

Since when is the process of purchasing anything from the Dealer involve tips beyond MSRP??
Please don't insult my intellengence on how much profit is built in on MSRP compared to invoice. And knowing invoice in it's self has built in profit to your boss/dealer owner that is not negotible nor disclosed. Not to mention, invoice prices are lower to fleet purchase corporations/companies or Government/State agencies. And adding direct factory to dealer only price cuts (again not disclosed) that the comsumer doesn't know about.

But if you were to wear a cute French Maid's outfit, sat on my lap and had your hooters under my nose while negotiating a deal, I might then be willing to include a tip in your pocket over and above MSRP, or in that case, your bust line. j/k

 

You see this is what you get for not asking me. We sell all factory Nissan and Infiniti parts. Next time you need something I get everything from our local dealership at the price it should be. Just ask!

In defense of the dealerships, they mark it up only because they are not intending to sell it "after" the car has left the floor, but "before"... where it can easily turn into a "good" deal when included in your financing.. haha! Break up that $250 over five years.. now you got a deal!
