Hey Mike,

They have done that for at least 6-8 months. I asked them why and they said to recover the cost of gas since it was high at the time and people would return the cars with tanks empty. They justified it by saying that the loaner is actually free but the $10 was for gas.

I think thats ridiculous. I always ensure that the tank is filled to exactly how I left it. Fairfield Infiniti has always been good about loaners and they dont charge.

I still have your rim. =)

I thought that if you didn't bring the car back with the same amount of gas that they would charge you? So now we have to pay the $10 AND refill it up with gas? That's just ridiculous!

Oh and I'm in no hurry for the rim, hope the tire worked out for you? Maybe when we're both free I can meet up with you.

IMO Pleasanton is the best! BTW they do provide loaners for oil changes.

I used to take my car to Niello for service as well and I was never charged.

Well I'll chime in too. We buy cars from them fairly regularly so I will talk to the GM and let him know what I'm hearing. I also didn't know about the charge but it is different when we borrow cars, we don't pay for anything and we drive 'em like we stole 'em. J/K. The best way to put pressure on them is to talk with Nissan/Infiniti directly. Call them and the info immediately gets emailed to the GM of the dealership. Provide lots of facts of other local dealerships as well.

Ok guys, I just dropped off my car this morning and the $10 is a fuel charge. Basically what they told me was that I can use as much gas as I want and I do not have to refuel when I bring it back. I guess it's worth it if you'll use more than $10 of gas, versus before I would have to fill it back up before I brought back the loaner.

But what dealers are giving out loaners for free AND you don't have to fill the tank back up? I'm still getting the short end of the stick on that one.

That's a decent way of doing it. As I bet NONE of the customers actually fill it up to where it was before. I know I don't

It is, but I would think that the dealer's losing money that way right? I mean to fill up the G is cheap at all. It costs a lot more than $10. Can someone point out the logic in that?

Well they are losing less now than before. Everytime I've gone into the dealer for work, it's only been for 1 day, maybe 2 tops. So on ave, I think the $10 is some type of ave.

If it is, that's one low average. Nowadays, $10 worth of gas is literally to the next city over and I'm sure there are a lot of people further than that. But that one day that your car is being serviced, how much driving do you do with the loaner? More than $10 worth right? I don't know, call me dumb but I don't get it. The charge is to recoup money from people not filling up but yet it seems like they're losing more money this way. Oh well, I guess it's better for us so I'll stop complaining and trying to make sense of it
