I'm looking forward to my first G/Z meet and I would be glad to help lead a group since I'm famliar with the Woodside area. For some of you not familiar with this route, we should remember to drive very cautiously and safely, especially heading up towards Hwy 84. Also, be aware there will be quite a few bicyclists on the Sand Hill Rd. and Portola Rd. There are bike lanes for them and "Share the Road" signs posted. Please be patient and give them some room. Don't worry, it's just at the first few miles of the drive where they'll be around. (I know because I'm also an avid mountain/road cyclist as well as G-car enthusiast) The San Mateo Sheriff may be present near these areas since it is a popular town to cruise through on the weekends. But, after we leave the parking lot across Alice's the drive gets better. Carving through the twisties and cruising the coastline will be very fun. Let's hope for a good turnout and good weather.

My wife won't ride with me any more. That's why I take my son, he likes the twisties but I have seen is eyes get rather large around blind corners.

Alder is pretty much spot on about the conditions of the drive route, I have leave plenty of time for the first part of the drive to Alice(four corners), everyone need to be watchfull of the traffic and there are couple of quick turns which could be miss rather easily if you arent paying attention, I suggest that everyone re-read the "drive route/directions" once or twice just be on the safe side, I will try to remind everyone again at Stanford before we leave for the drive.

I know this type of reminder might become bit annoy to some, I am just trying to cover all the bases, sure dont want to have any mis-mishaps to ruin your meet experience.


Adrian, The drive should last about 1 1/4 hours if you drive it none stop.

Hey guys! Wow your killing me here with all the people going!! wish i could be there too. The Knee surgury is still on for the 23rd though. HOWEVER myself and a couple others are going to do pretty much the same run on the 17th.. for those like me that cant go on the 24th . So if intrested p.m me and I will give details. There is a outside chance I may let a friend drive my car on the 24th If I dont go on the 24th..Im with ya in spirt!!!! I may even be on the sidelines waving ya on!!
