I-80 Speed Trap Today!

FYI, CHiPs are out in force all over the 80. I've heard reports of as many as 100. Just be careful. And another thing, they're getting smarter with the Ka band Radar; they only turn it on right before getting your speed rather than leaving it on all the time.

I'm only on 80 for a stretch in the morning, so I'm good, but I did cut it very close one time. I was coming from Bus-80 and merging onto 80E and just jammed along and went in the carpool lane, going bout a good 85-90 and this cop in the number 3 lane pulls to the number 2, probably spotting me. Anyhow, I see him and slam on the brakes and go by him going bout 65, he pulls behind me I turn into the right lane and he slowly drives by. I know that was pure luck there cause he could have easily pulled me over for speeding.

Careful on the 80 there and I've noticed some, but not ALL, CHPs are getting smarter about the Ka band. Some are real stealth while others just drive with it on. My observation is that although having Ka band isn't always the "smart" way to catch speeders, the traffic is usually slower when they do have it on only because I know so many people have detectors nowadays.

YIKES!! Can you say surface streets to get home today. You know with that presence people are going to drive like scared children. No one will be able to speed because they'll all be in park for hours.

Oh...Yeah...They're out in force these past few weeks/months. I80 in Solano Co. for awhile.
Noticed more on the 12 Rio Vista too, which is good. Too many fatalities out there lately. Stupid morons passing cars going 90 and ending up in head-ons.
That one just a day or so ago...impaticent IDIOT!! So sad for the victims families.

Think the CHP is trying to tell ppl to slow down and stay alive?

This is nothing new. And we are not getting smarter either. I'm certainly not.

I guess they were bouncing around all day, from Madison up to Penryn. I only saw 5 from Napa to Roseville this afternoon. I did have a motorcycle cop jump behind me for about 5 min but traffic was going slow.

I don't know why they'd pick a Wednesday?

+1 . . . Just don't give them a reason. Simple as that.

True Andy but you don't know how hard that is sometimes...lol

I have also noticed that the last few meets we have done and even the dry run last weekend that there were cops all about the area so I am concerned if the meet coming up will have the same issue we had at the last meet. I am getting to the point that fun meets are becoming hard to come by.

Getting on the 84 Bridge this afternoon towards East Bay had a trap too. There was a cop standing in the middle of the road when you turn right from Woodside Rd. to begin your journey across the bridge. He was slowing down traffic in the middle of rush hour and sitting there picking off people with no front license plates and/or dark tints. I was so happy I took my gf's accord to work today (to save gas), she is completely stock unlike my G with dark tints and lack of front plate. I swear cops are getting evil out there. Shouldn't they be out there saving us from killings, rappers, robbers, etc instead of spending their time on front license plates and tints?

Rappers!? Like NWA, Public Enemy, Too Short? J/K I assume you mean rapists.
Sometimes small infractions can lead to bigger things. Suspended licenses, warrant arrests, drugs, DUI, concealed firearms, dirt bag gang bangers....Sh*theads gotta drive too. And many of them drive with no front plates and tinted windows. You smell what I'm steppin' in?
