It's weird to be home early. Crossing my fingers and toes it stays that way.

I'm only laughing with you on this one John.. traffic will never quite be the same up North because the parking lot of the bay bridge tunnel toll is my entire 8 miles down here!!! I actually saw a guy on a bicycle rolling between cars on the freeway...

^^^Haha...all my years in LA and I've never seen that one with a bicyle, but HEY...it's LA, wouldn't surprise me

I used to have a 16 mile, 1.5hr commute (on a good day) from Alameda to China Basin SF.
That was pre 89' earth quake on the 880 cypress across bay bridge. And ppl up North would say back then LA traffic was lousy...

I just heard that they are going to be able to fix this freeway within the next 7-10 days. The damage wasn't as bad as they thought and they can repair it as supposed to reconstructing the whole thing which would've taken months. YEAH!!!!!

Yeah, it's only for the bottom connector. The top is going to take probably another 5-6 months.

My drive from Walnut Creek to Oakland has been gorgeous.
I feel sorry for everyone that has an increased drive, but wow, I'm getting spoiled here.

(..and yes, I'm knocking on wood as I type this)!

I don't get it. With the freeway being down how is it making everyone's commute better and shorter? Are people still staying home or working from home? I know that more people are taking BART and the ferry but is it THAT many people taking them that's making this huge difference in people's commutes?

What times are you two commuting on 24... I left Monday at 630am from my house up 680 to 24 to 880 to get to Oak Airport and it took me 1.5 hrs. I thought it would save me time doing 24 instead of 80-880 but I'm not sure now. And I drive like I'm in LA so being asleep isn't the factor!?

I'm normally in the late commute around 8:15-8:45am and in the heart of it at 5pm. The only day I wouldn't normally hit traffic is Friday.

It's a bit scary business-wise though. I've suddenly had a huge slowdown this week. The blood labs that are standing room only are empty. We even have street parking. It's weird to look down the street and see empty spots. People are usually fighting over them and double and triple parking up here.

People must be using more mass transit and only going to work and back.
