Keep your car waxed, especially the keyed part, really good until you get it into a paint booth. The layer of wax will give you some protection from rain to help avoid rusting, if you wait that long before you put her in a shop.

BTW, if you have Farmers, then you better get a police report for that before you claim it or your insurance will go up.

I was just trying to help a brother out! Like I said...it's temporary...not permanent and can be a much cheaper alternative depending upon your deductible.

But...I never knew that your premium wouldn't go up with vandalism claims....maybe I should claim the dents and scratches on my car and just get it repainted.

Mine just got keyed on the rear bumper yesterday at the zoo....The idiot keyed every car parked along with mine....Taking it today to get an estimate. If it's cheaper than my $500 deductible, I won't file with insurance, but we'll see what happens....

Damn that sucks. That's such a gutless move...

Just claim it on insurance. Only thing that sucks is that the paint won't match perfectly now unless you paint the entire car.

OMG!! That's horrible man. I am so paranoid about where I park and go these days after seeing what people do to our cars. My friends even noticed how I am, it annoys them, but they dont understand. There are certain places I will not go if i'm driving, based on what type of people are there. I also always park Valet now. And if that is not an option I never park next to other cars in which it looks like a young person or somone in this demographic may drive. And I do have Insurance, but it's the hassle of not having your car, investigating the paint work that was done to your car. But yea, good luck with that man, keep us posted.

I took mine to the body shop today and they said $400 to repaint the bumper. Figured since I'll be out $400 if I screw up anyway, I decided to fix it myself for $30 and followed the instructions at Popular Mechanics and it came out ok, except that I was a little too agressive with the sanding and got a 1/4" spot of primer showing. I'll touch up that spot with a little touch up paint and then smooth it out. I know yours is the entire length of the car so this probably won't work well for you, but just FYI for anyone who wants to know how to DIY....Here's the link:

yah i was thinking if this is a sign to get a Nismo front? but then i looked at my wallet and was like doh!!!!
Going to goto the serramonte auto body just to check out their work, then will probably head to international body as a few members on this forum have seem to gone. I want make dead sure they dont say that their going to paint the entire side but end up only painting the keyed strip...
