Saw the report of the accident on the news this morning. I couldnt make out the pics of the car, but was SHOCKED to see the 18" 350 wheels and it instantly clicked to me that it was another Z that went down.

But my thoughts and prayers to both families regardless of who was at fault...

From my understanding, this kid had history of unsafe encounters. My buddy lives in the area and his neighbor has a C5, a middle aged brother. He said this kid tried to race him all the time and would drive recklessly around him whenever he saw him trying to incite him to street race. I went to a neighborhood bbq last week and he was telling us both about it.

Interesting how it turned out for the kid

First let me say that this is such a regrettable situation that no words can express my sadness. My son graduated from the same HS and only knew who they were.

Living in Almaden and not to far from where the accident took place, Graystone Lane is a 2 lane mountain road that feeds down in a residential neighborhood at the bottom. BTW, some neighbors have complained about speeding since coming down the grade cars don't slow down enough although that doesn't explain the high rate of speed they were going.

I have a sense that if the driver was in non-sports car that he might still have been racing because remembering when I was younger street racing my parents car a 1962 Oldsmobile. I'm not proud of this but when my friend wreck his car (no one was hurt) we realized racing was for the track. We both started tracking our cars instead of street racing. We were both young and stupid but being one of the lucky ones that had a second chance we learned our lesson.

Not only were 4 lives lost but many more impacted, the families and friends that were left behind with this tragedy.

May God Bless,
Mark

Sedan
I hate these types of stories. I understand the knee jerk reactions of the people that expressed anger at the driver of the Z. That was my initial reaction as well. RIP to all involved.

BASE ACURA TLX NOW WANT A G35 AGAIN THOUGH
It's another sad story young people losing their lives and killing others...Earlier this year, one of my close friend's had a birthday bash in the city....They're in their mid 20's family owns serveral chinese restaurats in san jose...he just bought a 2007 Porshe 911 Turbo...They left the club and crashed their car on 280....They ended up on the news again on KTVU Ch 2.

What's shocking to me is that I never met those guys before, and they're buying me drinks and a few of our other friends.

In situations like that, someone should've pulled the keys away and said hey you guys are drinking a lot tonight, perhaps someone should hold onto the keys and if necessary cab it home...

I'm also a salesman at Mike Harvey Acura in Burlingame...Sadly, I see so many parents who spoil their kids and buy them fast cars like Evo's, S2000's, G35's, Mustangs....Cash Purchases...

Those kids don't know how to handle a sports car....DMV should set a new law...It should be something like:

Drivers between the ages of 16-20 must have X amount of driver's training or If a minor is to be allowed to drive a sports car, insurance should be so expensive that it would discourage parents and that any accidents or deathes or property caused by the young driver should fall on the car's registered owner...

Your thoughts...???

Damn that makes me sad - makes my ticket today a slap on the wrist...

BoBs

I don't care how old someone's age is in determining whether to issue a citation or not. Old people's speed will kill me, my coworkers, friends, family, and you guys just the same as a 16 year old. I just got a 66 year "old" man at 105 today in a POS. When I asked him how fast he was going he had no idea he was going that fast. Now that frightens me.
