My guess is that they are all new cars as most of them have the standard dealer ad in place of the real license plate...

Do you not have to register a new car for so many days or something in CA?

I was thinking of putting my window sticker back on and putting on a dealer plate in the back. I guess I would just have to keep the car looking real clean.

I don't want to put it on yet - I wanna hold on to the new car feeling as long as possible and to me, the moment I put on that plate it takes the newness away. I don't run red lights, I still pay toll with fastrak. It's just a preference.

Once you buy a new car from teh lot you are already paying for registration so that is mailed to you along with your plates. The car's registered, it just that some of us prefer not to have the plate on.

Plus sometimes it takes DMV up to 90 days to send your plates. Mine took 2.5 months...lol

So you get fix-it tickets for no front plates but can drive around for 90 days without any plates on your car?

WTF?

No front plates in a more obvious violation. Dealer plates are hard to tell if it's brand new or not, esp on a new body still. You won't get away with it on a 1992 Integra.

Just curious, how long have you gone before putting on your plates? My friend went over a year until a new body style came out.

90 days.

They can check to see when your registration was submitted, and can write you a ticket if you pass the 90 day limit.

I think the DMV is really backlogged at the moment -- it took just about the full 3 months for mine.
