Perhaps the indoor pistol/renting meet should be separate from an outdoor rifle/bring-yer-own meet (the latter could also include a Skyline Blvd/Hwy 9 drive).
AR-15? Police uses the semi-auto civilian version instead of an M16/M4?

The M16 would have a burst or automatic selection. A big no no. Some of our AR-15's ARE M16's converted. The really old ones still have "auto" on the selector switch except it doesn't work. Not every agency uses them but we do. It's a wonderful tool. Whatever you are looking at, that's where the bullet is going.
BTW, I had mine out last weekend on a felony stop with Fremont PD after they chased someone into SJ and the guy came to a complete stop on the freeway.

Targetmasters, Reeds and Jackson Arms will rent. These are indoor pistol ranges (Jackson permits rifle calibers now IIRC).
Chabot (Castro Valley), Los Altos, San Leandro and USI (Concord) do not rent. Chabot, USI and Los Altos are outdoor ranges. San Leandro is outdoor rifle/pistol, and indoor pistol. Chabot and Los Altos have trap. Concord has trap, skeet and five stand sporting clays.
Targetmasters is open until 10PM on Sundays, and midnight the rest of the week. Reeds is open until 9 or 10PM. San Leandro is open until 9PM Mon-Fri, 10PM Sun, and 5PM Sat.
Generally, when brining a larger group of shooters, pick what you want to do first (pistol, rifle, skeet/trap). This will pretty much determine your locations, and your hours.
I've been to most of the ranges in the area. Targetmasters and San Leandro have always been my top picks for pistol shooting, cause they're close to me and open late. Just an FYI.
