Had some fun at work the other day.

So this riced out Integra comes to my work the other day. While clearing out his trunk, I notice he had some "Brembos". I decided to slap them on and take some pics. They wouldn't even fit the front at all. Anyways, just having some fun. Excuse the dirty car. It was raining earlier in the day.

I work at a car audio shop. We were going to install an amp in an Integra. While clearing out the trunk, my installer finds these "Brembo" caliper covers. Check ebay. For ricers, they are as popular as the vinyl sunroof. Anyways, decided to put them on my car to see how it looks. Took some pics and took them off.

I'll take them off your hands. You won't feel dirty anymore.

Okay, don't flame me

But what's the purpose of having Brembos? Are they better brakes or are they just for looks?

I am bored at work, so I will answer this and try to keep it simple.

Upgrading brakes has many benefits. Typically, your car will come to a stop in a shorter distance. Also, if you are pushing your car hard, your car will stop more consistent as you will not suffer from brake fade, which usually happens with most stock brakes. Some aftermarket kits weigh less than stock so you have less weight to move around.

Most of the time, upgrading to a BBK (big brake kit) is really only necessary if you plan to track your car. Also, if you add alot more horsepower (ie, supercharger, turbo), it is recommended. Honestly, most people upgrade for the look. You get the benefits of performance and looks.

Brembo is not the only manafacture of BBK's. Other popular brands are Stoptech, Rotora, Baer, Endless, etc.

On 03/04 G35 6MT coupes, Brembo brakes were standard. They had a gold finish.

yea...they are just a plastic cover. the ones in the pic are supposed to be the front "4 piston" but they don't fit over stock front brakes. they barely clear the rear.

you know what Andy, I have really been considering a front/rear BBK. I have even been looking at 03/04 Brembos, but they just go for so much.
