Good place to park near SF downtown?

I have class all day tomorrow and usually travel by BART but I'm thinking of just driving tomorrow. My class is near Townsend and I've got a date with a girl at the theater across from the Metreon about an hour after.

Should I pay for all day parking near Townsend and then later find another parking garage in downtown? Should I find parking right in the middle between Townsend and downtown and just walk between the 2?

Main reason why I'm driving is because I don't have a locker and don't wanna lug all my stuff around to the movie theater. And also, maybe I can showoff my car.

How much does all day parking cost there? And would I be able to find parking at say...10:30am? Or would I have to come a lot earlier?

If I'm in my M3, I ONLY park in the Union Square garage. It's got the widest spots, secured, and usually empty on the lower levels. When I have my beater I park at the Sutter Stockton garage since it's the cheapest. The Metreon garage is a PITA.

if u park at the metreon garage, make sure you exit out on mission street. You will scrape the chit out of your exhaust if you come out thru that side street where the other exit is. believe me, i've had experience. lol

+1 for the union square garage and i usually go all they way down to the green level...plus their spots are hella wide as vodkarocket stated.

No where.

LOL SF is notorious for people who are oblivious to how other people value their cars. When I had my Boxster, took my car once to SF, parked in Union Square PS and some idiot gashed my passenger side of my car. Cost me a lot of $$$ to repair the damage.

Learned my lesson since then.

Good luck.

I have always had pretty good luck at Union Square garage. There are some pretty high profile cars there on occasion.

The lesson is be mindful of where you park and your surroundings.

so true....

Whenever I park in a garage, I always try to find a spot that has a wall next to it so only one car can park next to you. Also, if the spot seems a bit tight, I just move on until I find a good spot.

Pvssy! I park in the tightest spots, and do so without damaging other cars!

Okay. We are not talking about a 90' Accord. Do it in your M3 on a daily basis.

And sure, you may not damage another car, but wait till the other car swings their door open.

BTW, saw your car parked last night on Mission in DC by ASP.
