Unhappy Only 200 miles, and I scratched it

Hello,

I've been lurking around for a while and finally bought an 07 g35 sedan. Your community here is AWESOME! Definitely a key factor in me getting this car

Unfortunately, I scratched the bumper pulling it in to my garage. Yeah, I feel like an idiot. But it's time to repair the damage and move on. I took it to florin auto repair (at the suggestion of the dealer, elk grove infiniti) and they quoted me $760 to fix it. They said the white on the fender can be polished out because it's transference, but the bumper itself would have to be taken off and re-painted. The scratch is deep, but only paint damage.

Does $760 seem high to anyone else? Any recommendations on a place to take it in the sac area? I really want to get this fixed so I can continue with the break in! I love this car!!

Here's the damage:

Thanks,
-Paliya

Shop around, 760 is pretty steep IMHO.

The going rate to have a front bumper repainted is about 250+ and you can polish the fender your self, wetsand if needed.

Good luck and don't feel too bad, the same thing happened to me a few years back with a new maxima.

Sucks, but easy enough to get fixed. I have a little bit of curb rash on my new G37, got it around the 1200mi mark or so. It's not as obvious as your booboo, however.

Yes, 'unique' is a very diplomatic way of describing my fit of rage

Thanks for all the replies - I guess I'll shop around this weekend, and if nothing better comes up, I'll just bite the bullet.

Once she's all fixed up and tinted, i'll post more pics (Obviously just stock though, bought it on Wed).

Best regards to you all,
-Paliya

Sorry to hear it man, I can relate. I got rear ended less than a month after I got my G. Then the front fender and sideskirt got damaged when I shipped it from the east coast about 10months later.

Metallic paints are always a little more. They'll need to repaint the area (color matching as needed) and clearcoat the whole thing. Color matching metallic paints can be particularly tricky, to have it done "right" can cost almost as much as painting the whole thing.
It's always worth shopping around a little, but I'm not sure if you'll find a much better price.

Hey all,

I appreciate all the responses - glad to see that i'm not the only one who's banged up their G early on

I shopped around a bit and got similar quotes (a few slightly lower), so I just took it to the joint on Florin. It came to about $730, I just paid out of pocket. They fixed it up and made it look like the scratch was never there. Very nice work, I recommend the shop to anyone in Sac/Elk Grove area.

Next up, tinting Thank again to everyone!
