Yes, John . . . I have always thought that the "Copy and Paste" method was a bit ambiguous. For one, if people do not copy the correct/most current list, it can become very confusing for the event organizer. I prefer people just ask to be put on the list with the specifics, as required. That format makes it much easier for the event organizer and the subsequent people, whom will be reading the thread . . . And it definitely eliminates the large cluttering pages.
