not a big deal - just pay it. it's not a moving violation. i get 2-3 of these a year at least. when i worked in palo alto, i used to get 1-2 month.

It must simply be my age/mind set . . . I would rather have the front plate on and not have to deal with all of the drama.

 

Which is why we have wonderful sections such as this that make it a moving violation:

24004. No person shall operate any vehicle or combination of
vehicles after notice by a peace officer, as defined in Section 830.1
or subdivision (a) of Section 830.2 of the Penal Code, that the
vehicle is in an unsafe condition or is not equipped as required by
this code, except as may be necessary to return the vehicle or
combination of vehicles to the residence or place of business of the
owner or driver or to a garage, until the vehicle and its equipment
have been made to conform with the requirements of this code.

And this:

40000.28. Any offense which would otherwise be an infraction is a
misdemeanor if a defendant has been convicted of three or more
violations of this code or any local ordinance adopted pursuant to
this code within the 12-month period immediately preceding the
commission of the offense and such prior convictions are admitted by
the defendant or alleged in the accusatory pleading. For this
purpose, a bail forfeiture shall be deemed to be a conviction of the
offense charged.
