Got my first speeding ticket after 8 years of driving!
I was pretty much cruising on an empty I-580 west at around 2:30 AM. I got pulled over and the cop said I was going 84 mph on a 65 mph zone. I honestly didn't even know I was going that fast. What was funny was that I had to do the DUI test.
Anyway, the court date on my ticket says "w/i 60 days." In most cases, I've seen people with specific court dates. I'm assuming this means I just show up randomly within 60 days? Has anyone seen this before? I'm not familiar with this process.

just curious, was the cop rolling or camping with a radar? i have heard cop cant pull over people for speeding if they are rolling cause theres no recorder to capture that, is that true?

They can give u a ticket if they can somehow have an idea how fast you are going. They can be stopped with a radar, rolling with the radar mounted on their roof, pace you (compare your speed with their speedometer). Unless you fight the ticket, their way of measuring your speed is valid. There are specific ways of fighting each method of speed measurement.
cinco de mayo weekend cops every where, as for the ticket u should get a notice within 60 days if not call the court house and find out. if not they will say u forfit never payed and put a bench warrant out.

I'm assuming it was the CHP, right?
Like others have said, you will get the specifics in the mail.

Ahhh...the urban legends rise again.
If you read the back of the citation, there are more details. The most important thing you need to read is inside the red box where you signed your name. The court doesn't have to send you a darn thing in the mail, and it may not send you anything. So don't "just wait for it to come in the mail." Within 60 days is vague, but thats just how the court system probably works in that county. In Santa Clara County, we are given specific dates to write on the citation depending on what week the citation is issued. Bottom line, it's up to you to appear in court within 60 days to enter a plea. If you look at the top left corner of the document, you will notice it is actually called a "Promise to appear." Hint, hint.
