at the beginning i told myself not to go faster than 85. but when time goes by and im not there yet, i started to go faster and faster. i just cant control myself not to push that gas pedal deep on that straight and nice I-5... unfortunately, it even makes to slower and more expensive for my trip... flying to LA would be a better idea than driving... hopefully insurance doesnt go up too much...

Sorin,

I don't know anything about I-5. I don't work anywhere near it. As far as 'personal variances' go, I can't discuss that part of policy. It's not public knowledge. But what part of subsection (b) says "70 is the limit, but 75-80 will probably be OK?"

22356. (a) Whenever the Department of Transportation, after
consultation with the Department of the California Highway Patrol,
determines upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey on
existing highway segments, or upon the basis of appropriate design
standards and projected traffic volumes in the case of newly
constructed highway segments, that a speed greater than 65 miles per
hour would facilitate the orderly movement of vehicular traffic and
would be reasonable and safe upon any state highway, or portion
thereof, that is otherwise subject to a maximum speed limit of 65
miles per hour, the Department of Transportation, with the approval
of the Department of the California Highway Patrol, may declare a
higher maximum speed of 70 miles per hour for vehicles not subject to
Section 22406, and shall cause appropriate signs to be erected
giving notice thereof. The Department of Transportation shall only
make a determination under this section that is fully consistent
with, and in full compliance with, federal law.
(b) No person shall drive a vehicle upon that highway at a speed
greater than 70 miles per hour, as posted.

The Mac Ace,

Tons of chippies on the highway?!?! Where?!?! Cause my office has less than half of the officers it is supposed to have. The V-1 didn't save you. I did. I put out a briefing item to not stop any G35 drivers for any reason cause they're all my friends.

If that's the case, then one of your co-workers blatantly disregarded your briefing item when he pulled me over Sunday night.

That briefing item went into effect today as evident by The Mac Ace's post. You should have waited until after 5:30 this morning to speed in your car with tinted windows, no front plate, and modified emmisions devices while wearing two head phones and glasses with more than 1/2" temple width, while throwing a cigarette out the window.
