haha i just sent a PM to phil. he said he took them directly out of his projectors.. he said they are the new ones and they fit in both applications.. itll be the moment of truth when i get them in
There are typically 2 differences between a D2R and a D2S. When you want to use a D2R is a D2S housing (your situation), you have to cut a notch out on the base of the bulb so it fits in the bulb retainer. This is the easy part. You also have to sand down a strip on the actual glass that is used to block light output in reflector housings. I wouldn't want to mess with this but I know people have done it in the past. Essentially, if you don't remove that strip, you are blocking light output.
The bulbs you have can very well be D2C. MTec uses this type of configuration. I think on those bulbs, the strips are eliminated.

^mine have strips and say d2r on the black retainer... but i looked up d2c on google and all of them had the strip.. maybe they fixed the retainer and it works alright.. should i remove the strip after i see that they fit
Like I said, I wouldn't mess with them because I would be afraid of getting oils on the bulb cutting the bulb life down. I guess people wipe them down with alcohol afterwards. Don't know if it works or not. I have always been taught to never touch the glass.
Either way, you want to use bulbs that do not have that strip on them. By going with 6000K bulbs, you are already losing light output. No reason to lose even more by using bulbs that block light. Whatever you decide to do, don't use bulbs that have that strip on them.

bump.. looking for another lift to use just to check out my exhaust as it seems to hang incorrectly and want to check it out from under the car.. it's hard to tell using just jack stands. Let me know if you have a lift available for possibly an hour max.

the guy at topspeed and everyone here said they've never had fitment problems and i even emailed the topspeed guy a picture and he said that.. so idk maybe it's that hanger on the midpipe. could we loosen the bolts on it to try and fit i through there? Idk i just want it to hang correctly
its pretty easy to fix if one tips hang out more, just push it back lol. or pull the other side out more. we can play with the hangers its no biggy. ask anyone that has this type of exhuast (hks injen topspeed) you have to play with each side to get it even.
