G35S rear differentiali issue
Hello
I have a 2008 G35 S with 86k miles recently it started to make a humming sound
I took it to a mechanic lift the car and the sound its coming from the differential. He told me
That instead of replacing the bearings and rebuilt the differential it was better to buy a used one. what year i have compatibility i know that 2007 and 2008 are similar but can i buy from other year also?
Thanks

Diff fluid should be replaced every 30k miles. I've heard lots of people switching the lube to a synthetic, since the manual trans gets finicky with anything other than OEM Nissan fluid I stayed with the same in my rear diff too (since I was doing them at the same time).
I can't speak with certainty but if you are swapping the entire rear diff assembly then I believe they are interchangeable between rear drive 3.5 and 3.7 liter nissan/infinitis. Even first and second gen are interchangeable with some mods. However the gear ratios is different so if you want to maintain the same drive then stay with your specific model.
I guess I'm not being very helpful since I'm not providing a straight answer with model #s but two things that might help....... stick with a SPORT model rear diff because you want to keep the VLSD rather than the base open diff and change the rear diff fluid at 30k.
