^I do both small and large apertures depending on what I'm going for, but as a general rule, I prefer a larger aperture (smaller DOF)
1/600 to 1/1000th is plenty fast. Like I was saying, just shoot later in the day. Preferably in the hour around sunset.

Like Ash mentioned, it depends on the look you're trying to achieve. I generally lean towards a small F-stop because I love the bokeh effect.
But I still stop down if I need the increased sharpness.

^Yep. He brings up a good point. Lenses are generally sharper a few stops from "wide open" on the aperture, so that is something to consider as well.
That is one reason I like shooting with either the prime (f1.8) or my 80-200 (f2.8) because I can step down a few stops and STILL have a large aperture.
If you have a tripod, def bring it. You can even get some cool stuff in the dark.
This pic was taken with nothing but moonlight and a 20sec shutter:

Only thing you have to watch out for in those instances is weird stuff you wouldn't normally think of like dew (notice my roof)
You'll probably also want to make sure you're shooting in RAW because frequently the color cast will be all over the place.

Shooting location is cool for this type of shot. You are getting much better at rig shots, I hope that you are using some of my "tricks" from our shoot...hehe.
Awesome work Pat love it!
Is that line in the rear bumper that starts in the tail light and goes to the bottom of the bumper the rig pole or something else reflecting on the bumper?
