New owner. with 1 Key

Wassup Guys,

I am located here in Sacramento, CA . I just purchased a 05 G35 Sedan this past weekend with a 3 year warranty. However, the dealership where I purchased this vehicle only gave me 1 key. How much is it to obtain a spare key from Infiniti? Or how can I obtain one for a good price.

Thanks

Shouldn't the dealership be able to provide you an extra key at no cost since you purchashed the vehicle from them, as opposed to a private party?

^seeing that it was used, it may not have been an Infiniti dealership.... hence the reason of not being able to supply a 2nd key? just guessin

My bad. Saw the word dealership and assumed he bought it from an Infiniti dealership.

Knowing this, I would suggest contacting a local Infiniti dealership to see what they say. I don't know if I would trust eBay.

That's what I need. An extra key fob. The guy I purchased the G from lost the spare one. So far, I've gotten by on one, but I'd like to have a backup, just in case.

im sure if you looked harder/bid you can find it cheaper
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-...0179QQtcZphoto
here is how you program them
REPROGRAM KEY FOB

QX4, 1997-2004 Q45, I30, I35,1999-2002 G20, FX, G35, M45, Most Nissan Vehicles

The horn chirp can be disable by pressing the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously until the hazard lights flash, and no enable press the lock and unlock until the horn chirp.

To reprogram (enter new ID) key fob (keyless remote controller) follow the steps.

1. Close all doors and lock all doors

2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder more than six times within 10 seconds.
(The hazard warning lamp will then flash.)
NOTE:
Key should be withdrawn from ignition key cylinder completely each time.

NOTE:
Do not rush the insertion/removal key cycling process. The side
marker/tail/license lamps and interior illumination will flash twice when this step is
accurately completed.

3. Insert key on ignition key cylinder and turn ignition key switch to "AAC" position
At this time, the new ID code is entered and original (previous) ID codes are erase.

4. Press any button on the new remote controller once. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash)

NOTE:
Do not press the button more than one time in the above step. If the button
is pressed more than one time, the programming procedure will not be successful.
The side marker/tail/license lamps and interior illumination will flash twice when this
step is accurately completed and programming is successful.

If there is only one remote controller skip step 5.

5. Additional ID code entry
Release the door lock, then lock again with door lock/unlock switch
(In power window main switch)

6. Remove key from ignition

7. Unlock driver side door, open driver side door and then close the door. (END)

NOTE:
If you need to activate more than two additional new remote controllers, repeat
the procedure on step 5 "Additional ID code entry" for each new remote controller.

NOTE:
Entry of maximum four ID codes is allowed and any attempt to enter more will be ignore.

Additional or replacement keys are a pain. Many, if not all, late models these days have a chip inside.

Our G's have the immobilizer system and all keys new and/or original must be registered to our ECM and BCM (NATS control unit). Our keys are aka IVIS (NAT) keys. All that is separate from fob and it's (on some) separate user-end programing. Think your screwed as well on fobs that are keyless entry, but don't have time to look up in service manual to confirm.

Sometimes when adding a new key(s) to register, you must re-register all original key(s) as well. Our system will allow up to 5 keys registered, but must be done at the same time of registering process.

Far as I know, only the dealer can perform this. Key registering can only be done with their CONSULT II hardware and CONSULT II IVIS (NAT) software.

It's a big monopoly. VW has had a class-action suit filed against them b/c of not allowing customers having an option to go elsewhere other than dealer for key(s) to vehicle registering on key replacements.

My daughter lost her key on her year 2000 VW. Had to get new one from dealer. Let me keep it short and just say....be sure to bring your KY and a smile cuz it gonna hurt

G/L

If you are in the Bay sometime then go to the great mall in milpitas. There is guy @ a little stand that can make you a key w/ the key fob and the dude will go out to your car and program everything. I think its about $120 or $150 last time I checked. I was going to do it, but found my extra key.

^Wasn't doubting you at all about our separate fobs from keys and programming those.
However, think those keyless system fob ones are different, like on the 07 sedans with push button start and no key at all.

Interesting and good to know about that. Key too? Very good news to hear and know.
VW charged me ~250 for new fob/programming, + cut key with registering to system
