Using XP Pro. I was running Vista for a while but it was incompatible with many programs I need to use for school.

We talked about this a bit at the Pho place on Saturday Andy, but I currently use XP Home & Pro and I'll be converting one of my old laptops into a Fedora Linux server in the next few months. I've used every Apple since the IIe through the latest ones, and almost all of them have failed in some way or another (lost files, constant freezes/crashes/lock-ups [I can only assume prior to OS X], general slowness, etc).

Aside from that, I do like to play games, and you will never have the same level of price : performance with a mac, ever; not to mention the lack of games and the non-upgradability of the platform.

Running Mac OSX on my MBP. I been a PC junkie, but I gotta say I love the simplistic functions and ease of OSX. I might bootcamp Windows 7. Still got Vista/XP on my PC.

Kevin . . . I understand and totally agree. However, the need of the moment requires it.

I run XP and I really don't understand the whole Mac thing at all. My wife has a macbook pro and aside from the keyboard lighting up everytime the lights go dark, I don't see what's so great about it. It's heavy and it's metal case heats up so much it gets to a point where it practically burns my dainty legs.

Aside from Mac's alleged video/photo editing prowess, what's so great about it again? I mean if it's so good why would you need to run Windows with it at all? using "boot camp" or whatever it's called.

Oh and not being able to right click drives me nuts.

Not many options software-wise for Apple-- it's a good thing they allowed the use of Microsoft on their system as it would help to bridge that gap.
Also, for the price your going to pay apple, you can get the latest state-of-the-art top-line PC computer.
Save yourself some money, just buy SONY. They have great customer service and their products last.
If you want to save even more $$ , buy DELL. I've been buying dells for the past 8 Years and they have all been great computers. Very friendly to the wallet and often you can get great tech support packages with your computer for cheap. Whenever I have a problem, I call DELL and within 2-3 days, the replacement parts are at my door. Even when my warranty expired, I still got a free replacement on my charger and new hinges for my laptop =D
Definitely agree with this post. This is kinda goes along with my own reasoning to buy an Infiniti over a BMW. I personally don't get why you would want to pay more for something to only get less features. I guess you get that "i'm cool/trendy/hip because I use a Mac" appeal.

I'm right clicking, as we speak, on an older 17" G4 PowerBook.

If it wasn't for AutoCad, all of my rigs at work would be a Mac.

So I read the article and it didn't really say much except that the new bandwagon is Macs and you're "cool" if you use it. What am I missing?

I didn't read all of the comments though, I'm sure there's bashing on both sides.

It boils down to personal preferences and requirements. Bashing should not really enter the equation.

Andy,
