Santa Rosa is nice. Stay away from Marin City.
It's cheap, but amazingly ghetto for the Marin peninsula.

Santa Rosa is a nice place but stay away from the southwest area as there has been a increase in gang activity, I would stick to the North east as that is the nicest part of town.

I work here so I know

depends what your looking for. city life or suburbs...depends on budget too..

santa rosa is hella far from SF and surrounding areas...like the use of "hella", ya ur gonna have to put that in your vocab.LOL jk..

EAST bay is nice...rural feel, but not too far from the city life.
(san ramon, walnut creek...)
OAKLAND, ALAMEDA and that area..depends..kinda sketchy.
Vallejo is kinda blah at some parts..alot of brake-ins

How about NAPA? 1hr from SF. slow peaceful life..but 15min drive to Vallejo.

Sacramento? - good and bad parts..cusins house got their cars broken into 3times..and someone stole a handbag in broad daylight while his roomie was skating in the front, left the bag at the back of the suv/latch open...shady...

SJ/Downtown - GGGGheetttoo...TULLY and Capital Expresway, Alum Rock area..got car jacked at gun point in a new 06 gmc delani on burnal rd at the holiday inn...

LOL. hope we didnt scare u off...

look every city has a ghetto....that has some thugs...none worse than living in LA. As long as you are not in HP, Richmond, East side san jose, Oakland...you will be okay......i live in South San Jose and nothing major has happen to me.

I used to live in East side san jo for like 15 years and out of that whole time, the only problem I had was a gun pulled on me while walking home with a friend. Other than that, I liked it out there. But back on topic, Santa rosa and sonoma county are nice places to live, compared to alot of others. The only bad is you are far away from alot of the cities.
