Speeding ticket on San Mateo Bridge? FIGHT IT!

Just went to court for an unrelated speeding ticket and saw THREE speeding tickets get dismissed.

All were speeding on the San Mateo Bridge. Apparently there is no traffic and engineering survey for the current set speed limit of 65 mph.

Go have fun...but be safe

Oh...my 61 mph in a 25 mph construction zone fine was reduced 50%, so I had to pay $179.25, but the damn lawyer fee cost me $500. Had to try...

If you ever get tagged with LIDAR, don't even bother hiring a lawyer. Judge said LIDAR is almost error proof.

I guess that means you won't be speeding on the way to Pismo. I dread the day I get my 1st ticket. It's just a matter of time.

I know a CHP oficer in San Mateo county. he says the bridge is the only place where they CAN use radar.

As far as the engineering survey, you only need to produce it it when there's a speedtrap involved, and 65mph limit is not a speedtrap. I guess the judge just didn't know that. It has been ruled that since 197ies by California Appelate court.

Is the San Mateo bridge a 65 zone though? I thought it was 55 all the way across that long sucker...

Correct me if I'm wrong, I moved south on the peninsula (Redwood City down to Los Altos) so it's been a while since I've driven the bridge frequently. The last time I was on it, it still wasn't 3 lanes the whole way across.

Since the expansion it is now 65 MPH.

And for all the talk about RADAR, LIDAR, etc. Just remember that you can still get a speeding ticket the old fashioned way, when they bumper pace you.
