I can only speak for myself.

I care about anyone that passes on.. when I pray, i pray for the departed. Yes, celebrities and the more fortunate people receive more attention in the media...it is unfortunate, but this is the way or our world.

i don't think people cared or cried because of how much money he had... call me crazy, but i think it might have something to do with his contributions as a music artist

like what patman530 said, lots of people are sad because MJ are idols to some people at least during his younger days. but RIP for everyone who has passed away.

Like when John Lennon was shot. I remember that day, was in a solemn mood for a few days, disbelief actually. Lennon's music meant a lot to me, as probably Michael Jackson's has to others. He was known as the King of Pop. Elvis, King of Rock, etc. Money had nothing to with what people felt for those artists. My .02

Michael Jackson touched or influenced thousands probably millions of peoples lives with his music. Theres not much to be confused about here since obviously you can't care about everyone or everything in this world. It's in our human nature to feel for someone that has in one way or another been in our lives when he/she passes away.

Also, his death and subsequent mourning by his fans have nothing to do with him having money. There has been no mention of his wealth as far as I've heard/seen it's only been about his music and how he was an icon because of his music.

A famous poor person? Usually fame and riches go hand in hand. But on another note you could say mj was poor. How many times did he almost loose neverland ranch? Why do you think he is making, or was making a london comeback. He was poor.

Really understand mjs accomplishemnts bro. He wasn't a one hit wonder. This dude in his prime was a bonifide panty dropper.
