Beach for a day...

Anyone know of any good spots in the bay with nice sandy beaches? Preferably a place to do a little two person bbq or something and relax? Thinking about taking a drive out their this saturday with the lady for a little day-get-away sort thing. Any suggestions/tips/whatever would be helpful and is greatly appreciated!

ok well along highway 1 in half moon bay im not really sure of any legal bbq spots, but there are a series of beaches like san gregorio that are pretty nice. warning, if its warm this weekend, that **** will be packed. I know in Santa Cruz there are several nice areas, but because im not really familiar with how to get there (anywhere except the boardwalk and downtown) i cant really say what to recommend. I think the bbqing part with be the hardest to fullfill because im not sure what bay area beaches allow it

yea i wouldnt go to the boardwalk, i always think its kinda dirty and smelly, too many homeless/hippies/smokers (my bad if u do smoke, i dont so it bothers me)

This place i mentioned, the natural bridges, you get to by driving by the boardwalk and continuing on highway 1. there are rock formations that look like bridges, thus the name. quite a drive from sac tho!
