Wekfest III - 02.20.2011
I haven't been on driver since Thursday night before I left for Wekfest, just made it back home from the show.
First of all congrats to all of the winners!! Here are the results for the Infiniti's:
Best G35/37
1- Chris Condos (red APR widebody, TT, Team Ar-kan, etc.)
2- Zack (matte black RareJDM time attack)
3- Ernesto - (Blue Slate G37 Sedan Stillen Supercharged)
Best Infiniti-
1- Kris (Green APR widebody, Vortech, Team Hybrid bagged)
2- Chris (IP Vortech, UAS, Team Still Motion, etc)
3- Nam (Teal, slammed on coilovers, Team Still Motion, etc.)
Team RareJDM also had another winner, Diane, who has a Datsun 510 - 2nd place best old skool.
I had a great time at the show. It was great to see and hangout with all of the homies from NorCal, photogs and people from various blogs/websites, and my teammates. I can't even express to you how many amazing cars there were at this show, which was expected.
Again as some pointed out last year the judging needs to be improved from the standpoint that if you are judging you shouldn't not be showing, your car should be display only. When are the Wekfest organizers going to realize that someone should judge their own car? Even still all of the cars that won were more than deserving for sure, I (and many others) feel that if you judge, then don't compete.
At the end of the show it was announced that Wekfest is going on tour and that Fatlace would be collaborating with them to put on the show. Maybe with Mark (from Fatlace) being involved things will change. I know he doesn't agree with judges showing from a couple posts I've seen of his on FB calling out others who won an award at an event he thought they had organized.
Looking forward to Wekfest SoCal in June!!

I have nothing but respect for you. Have you tried emailing kenneth@weaksauce.org who is one of the organizers for the show he is open to comments, suggestions or questions about the event.
My take on the whole judging. There will always be people that may disagree with who the winners are. All the cars there put in hard work to get the right stance, paint, wheels, audio, set up. I seen on Marcus's Facebook people making comments about who got first. Since i know i am younger than Marcus i know he been the scene for longer than i have. One thing you notice that there are politics in car shows for the most part not saying Wek'fest is. I say most of the judges had cars or involvements in cars there. One thing i do know is that the Judge who has a car in there is NOT allowed to judge their own car. I know there was a lot of politcs with HIN and seen time and time again from members on here. Me personally i just love seening the people involved in the scene. A place i get to see friends from far again. As well i am Thankful for the awards that Laly and I have won but i would trade my awards just to hang out and kick it with the people i have met on the scene.
Again with all the G's there. I give mad respect to Rusty who always putting in hard work on his G and the work he put on Laly's car when we got her paint on.
With all this being said, i would like to Thank everyone that has helped me including Marcus,Randy, TWC, RAREJDM,OUR GARAGE/Mach III, TNT Autobody, Team H.O.T, AutoExplosion, Chris(G35papa),Still Motion, Sean Chase, IGT AUTOMOTIVE, Kyle @ Stillen
Since this was my last car show....i hated waking up early to leave but was sad when the time was up. It was great seeing everyone again.

zzzzzzzzzz
Funny you would post that Ernie, I just saw Kenneth's post on FB and I'm writing him an email now, good lookin' out! I hope that my comments are heard and seriously considered. Like I said in my original post on this topic I believe that all of the cars that won were deserving cars (but just so you know Ernie I believe Laly should have won something too!).
No reason for us to beat around the bush about it...LOL. Kris was a judge and he won 1st Infiniti (he got 2nd last year and also judged). Nothing personal against him at all, I just disagree with judges competing in a car show where they are making the determination of who wins an award, even if they don't judge their own cars. There is an inherent conflict of interest that exists that can only be removed if their car is display only.

I am totaly with Marcus on this issue. If you are involved with the show in some form, especially a judge, your car should not compete no matter what. It is great to have those cars on display, but thats it. Also those cars should be detailed just like any other car that is competing.
I know how the system works, I have judged several car shows in my 25 years of experience of competiting at car shows. Whenever I judged a show my car was on display fully detailed, but did not compete. Because of my desire to compete, I no longer judge.
This issue is one of the main reasons I did not attend this show this year, despite the fact that I won last year. Other people have told me that they also didn't want to attend based on the same reason.
This issue is not a personal gruge against any one person, just common sense.
Every show will have its problems, no one is perfect. The Remix show in DelMar also had some questionable calls. Speaking out like some people are will hopefully make changes. If no one speaks out, the promoters think all is fine and dandy.
In the end, we all do this for fun. It is great to hang out with friends and make new ones.

^Nesto man I'm really glad you came out. It was good seein old crew again including you, Laly, chris, kris, and all the sac fellas. You'll go down as one of the first homies that helped me out and inspired me when I first got into the scene. That being said, congratz on the trophy this weekend, and Imma miss your homo a$$. When you part out, gimmy da hookup for joog
It was cool to see a lot of people I hadn't seen for a long time...catch up, hang out...and take a much needed nap in my car while girls gogo danced in front of Jeffs ride right next to me lol
Great show, SICK cars and now the hole in my wallet is going to get even bigger
