^Yup you did call it. I was only going by what they had put out there, I don't recall ever seeing that there was the possibility of them shortening the registration period. 4 weeks is 4 weeks. Agree though that there really wasn't any reason not to submit your registration right away (unless you were still building the car).

 

I got email confirmation regarding "cut off" registrations, from Junior (Ernesto). Overwhelming response 1300+ applicants .. so Yes .. registration has been "cut off".

 

That is a lot of applicants! I thought they would accept all of them until the closing date. Then start to weed out cars that don't have enough mods.

 

Per Junior, "they" considered keeping it open for the additional 2 weeks, but when the number exceeded 1300+ .. "they" figured they'd find enough suitable rides. And the fact that another 2 weeks would (could?) possibly add another 3-400 cars to "select from" (i.e. too many to choose from)

 

Did they stop the Applicantion early last year? Is this the 1st time they are doing this?

 

I know last year that they had more applicants than capacity (at the J-Town Garage), so in some sense, they may have "stopped" accepting applications. I don't know for sure. Based on memory, I believe many cars were turned away .. "not having enough room".

There are quite a number of "teams/groups" that enter .. my guess we're talking 10-20 cars per team .. probably (IMO) .. making up at least 1/2 (if not more) of the entries.

It was posted earlier .. unless you're with a team/group .. it's difficult for a single-entrant to be able to show.

I think (and I don't know for sure) so my apologies if I'm painting the wrong picture.

I believe .. the past WEKSOS events .. took entries both online and "at the door" (so to speak). Meaning that even if you were accepted (via online application) .. if you arrived too late to the venue. You may have been "shut out". Also probably what transpired - some really nice cars were "shut out" due to over capacity.

This year .. only online registration/applications are being used. Unfortunately (?) due to the massive response - the organizers decided to "cut off" the registrations (earlier than expected). Based upon the feeling that they will get the cars they want.

Judging (show or pre-show qualification) is subjective .. and there will always be those that feel they were "cheated" or "left out". Can't be helped.

I've no doubt it'll be a great show ..

(and no .. I'm not in it)

 

So, after they finish going through all the application, are they going to E-mail everyone if they are in? (sorry this is my 1st time going to this if i get accepted)

-TOP F.A.Q.’s-

1. I made the list and If my car is not ready by the Feb 20th, 2011 for Wekfest 3, Can I give my spot to another crew member or friend? Do I get a refund?

There are NO REFUNDS – You must be 100% committed for WEKFEST 3 on FEB 20th, 2011 - If your car is not ready (built, finished from body shop etc) your spot is LOST and next car on our WEKFEST “ON DECK” list is activated. You can NOT “Sell” or give your spot to another car or substitute. Car license plate # and vin # information will be collected and when checking in the day of the show, Matching information will be required to enter car show! If info does NOT match our records, car will not be allowed into show.

2. How many spectator admissions does the car registration come with?

Your car registration only comes with 2(two) admissions. 1(one) for YOU the driver and 1(one) for your passenger – “BUT” your passenger must be present during staging/check in only. Your 2nd admission is only good DURING the morning staging and check in and your guest must roll into the Fort Mason Complex with you during your staging. If you do not have your guest with you, you lose your 2nd admission.

3. I went last year and had a GREAT TIME, but I am wondering if you are going to fix the long lines to get into the show. I waited 2 hours in line last year!

We are definitely working on all the kinks we came across last year! We are planning on having 4 lines this time rather than the one long line going around the facility! So if you waited 2 hours last year, we hope to cut that down to less than 30-45 minutes!

4. I hear only 50 spaces are available for this show and most of the 350 spaces are vendors and their cars. Is this true?

Definitely FALSE! We have over 350 spaces available for JUST CARS. Vendors and Booth space is not counted in this amount! They have their own area of the show with their own spaces allotted to them.

5. If I get accepted to show my car in Wekfest 3 on Feb 20th, 2011 but my other crew members missed the registration window and the show is now full, can they get into the show since I made it in? Or can they get bumped in front of anyone else?

6. I don’t like driving in the rain, If it rains on Sunday Feb 20th, 2011 and I choose not to enter my car, can I get a refund or give up my space to another car?

This is 100% Correct. We have invited past winners, elite crews, and popular tuners/builder to bring out their cars to compete. We also have more competitive categories per chassis/make as well.

8. A lot of chatter on community forums are mentioning that WEKFEST is going on Tour? Is this true?
