CCFL Rear License Plate

I was wondering whether anyone has or knows someone that has done this install. I'm not the most handy person when it comes to working on my car , so if there's anyone that can do this please let me know! I guess I can always throw in some LED's if worse comes to worse.

Are you talking about a neon plate around the edge?

They are highly illegal and just bring attention to you i dont see why you would put one on.

Just do LED bulbs. Don't put a neon light around your plate. It is illegal, and you will definitely get pulled over, especially in California. Not to mention, it will look stupid.

No Im talking about replacing the standard crappy yellow license plate bulbs that are above the license plate.

This is the thread I'm referring to https://g35driver.com/forums/lightin...corners-2.html

LEDs look like ****, why would u want 2 spotty lights that look ricey and blue?

I did the cold cathode mod and it looks absolutely sick. Like the Lexus plates. Not flashy at all

Basically get a cathode from ebay, 10-12" i beleive. the ones used to light up computer gaming systems. remove metal bracket and stock lights, drill holes in bracket (tough part). Mount light (be careful not to break the cathode, its delicate) using some epoxy glue. Screw bracket back in. run the electrical and tape of exposed wiring. Done.

Mine last over 2 years, it actually just went out yesterday so i will have to do this all over again!

^ What the ****?

The Lexus plates use "2 spotty lights". They don't use CCFL bars lmao. You are using computer lightning on your car VS LED bulbs made to fit the car. Not to mention yours is about a foot long. What is rice?

I didn't use blue bulbs on my G35, I used white, and I'm planning on using white bulbs on my evo. Majority of folks use LED's.

"Not flashy at all." - How is a 12" CCFL lamp not flashier than two LED bulbs?

Wow..really??

First off, the Lex dont use cheapo LEDs you find online. 2nd, cold cathode lighting has a lot of applications, computer lighting just being one of them. Yes its a foot long, but its well hidden beneath the bumper assy and you cant actually see it unless you crawl under it and look up.

It provides an even stream of light, which the majority of LEDs that i see on cars, do not. If you found some nice white LEDs, more power to you. The majority i see on the street typically have a bluish hue to them, thats all. But yes, most folks do use led and it takes a lot less time and effort.

The 5/6 bulb LED which lights up the area around it, rather than straight forward, is what I used. This resulted in even light distribution over the rear license plate. You couldn't tell if I had 1, 2, or 10 bulbs under there because it was so even.

Now if the OP wants to put a CCFL lamp, then he's free to do so.

But your initial comment on saying LED lights look like ****, as well as ricey and blue is incorrect. That mostly applies for stupid ricers who also rock the bright purple HID kits.

I have LED's in my License plate bulbs, it gives nice even white light coverage. Putting a CCFL bulb is dumb

Umm, I don't think so.

Each time I took out or swapped my license plate bulbs the bracket was fine. Not rusty at all. It should clip on securely each time.

You can try looking for another one. Or find a destroyed G35 on craigslist that is parting out and you can request that bulb cover.

I'm not sure what they're called. But you can try calling an Infiniti dealership and describe it to them.

If it's not the actual bracket that you remove, but rather the clip that it sits on, then I'm thinking it might be part of the bumper. If that's the case, I don't know what the cost will be. If you don't mind jury-rigging it for a bit, you can use double sided tape. That stuff holds up well.
