Oil Burning

Hey everyone.
I live in the Central Valley in CA now, relocated from SD county.
I drive a 2004 G35 6MT coupe at around 133k miles.

I've had an oil burning issue for about 2 years now that started around 97k miles, and just this last month it burned about 4 quarts of oil over the course of the month with mixed driving of city and highway.

If you rev it while standing still it just smells of burnt oil, and the exhaust tips are super black from all the soot.
There's no overheating or anything wrong with the oil.

My cats are bad, obviously and I have to smog for registration this year.
Just a bit of background.

Does anyone have any experience with this that would help?

Does anyone know of any shops in the area that would do an engine rebuild or a swap and would do some good work?

There's no stopping the current oil burning issue, I am aware, I'm just trying to avoid having to sell the car or have a catastrophic failure.

If you plan on keeping your G35 here's what I'd do, go to our Marketplace under vendor engines. Buy and engine that meets your needs and have a qualified Nissan mechanic install it for you. I'm lucky I know several over qualified mechanics/shops who'd take on this task for me. I wouldn't buy a motor from Nissan, they might still be using cheap azz oil rings...Gary
