Thanks for the links.

In regards to my specific case, I have spoken with Infiniti Corporate and they are much better do deal with. In fact I think Oakland Infiniti is just stupid - the 2003 G35 Service Manual's specifically states that Genuine Nissan or "equivalent" oil filters are ok. Here's some pics. I have also included the spark plug removal, because I think it is utterly ridiculous that the tech did not make the effort to remove TEN BOLTS (the passenger side sparkplugs can be accessed w/o removing the intake) and blamed his laziness on "bad torquing of the bolts".

Yeah, but I'm taking it elsewhere. Based on their tech's unwillingness to even do a basic compression test + their tech's misdiagnoses of a simple (but serious) problem, I wouldn't trust them to replace an entire engine or anything of that nature on my vehicle. Imagine them cutting corners on a job like that!

That's good to know. But about the synthetic oil, should I not tell my dealer about me using synthetic? I will do all maintenance that I can but am hearing that Infiniti wants proof that maintenance is performed (I'm using Mobil 1 and saved my receipts). Is there a list of things the warranty covers, like brake pads? I thought I saw that somewhere on here. I'm nearing 30K and need to look into what is "scheduled."

I'll wait to see what happens on the synthetic. I own both the 350Z and G35 service manuals, and both of them say nothing about synthetic, just that the oil is 5w/30 or 10w/30 and API (American Petroleum Industry) certified - which Mobil 1 is.

I get my oil changed at a local "quick change" place, however, I provide the filter (M1) and use M1 oil. Keep us posted.

It's good that you talked with Consumer Affairs, they will contact the dealer about it. And yes, you can do your own oil changes or take it to the quick lube places without voiding your warranty, you do not have to take it to Infiniti. They have to PROVE the oil filter or oil caused the problem (yeah right). And, they did do warranty work on your lights, that means you will be receiving a customer service survey in the mail. Make sure you anally fist-f*ck them as hard as you can! Trust me, they hate that, and it costs the service writers bonus money. You should also write a letter to that General Manager of the dealer, while your at it, the BBB as well.
