Something wrong with my car?

Hey, I've driven my G35 2005 Coupe for about 6000 miles now and I've been consistently getting around 12-13 MPG. Best I've gotten was 15. I fill up usually around 16.5-17 gallons (when the light comes on) and I read my mileage and it says only 200-220 (this is the range I've gotten since I've bought this car). This doesn't seem right.

Now I went into the dealer (Infiniti of Oakland) when it had about 4000 miles and they couldn't figure it out and said it'll get better over time so I left. But now it's pissing me off and I don't want to have to deal with this poor gas mileage. By the way, I shift between 2-3 all the time but I do climb a steep hill everyday. 99% city driving.

Thats pretty shi**y. I get about 16.5 driving hard in the city with little traffic. In the city driving regular, about 17-18. On the hwy, 21-23. Something def. isnt right.

Complain to the dealer and don't take "It'll get better over time" as an answer.

+2 Check it out though. When I first got my car, I bought it used with 12k miles on it. I check the fuel avg's on the nav system and the guy had reset it twice when he had been getting around 12mpg!!! Not to mention, he had already gone through a set of brakes, tires, and who knows what else.

Either way, my milage is now 16.5 and freeway is about 21-23 rollin smooth.

You are using Premium fuel, have the correct oil in, and aren't driving with the parking brake on right

Yup, I fill up at Chevron everytime, 91 octane. The dealer changed my oil when I hit around 2500 miles.

We all know are cars drink fuel like water, but from mine and other's experiences, I believe that the MPG completely correlates with your driving style. Yes, it's a common sense thing, but so many people just blame that the car drinks fuel like nothing, but I've changed my driving style drastically and my MPG has shot up. I used to get about 16-17, but now I'm averaging at least 20MPG. Just ease up on the driving a little bit, but don't get me wrong, you can still open up the car a little, but don't floor it all the time.

Thing is, I don't floor it. I shift between 2-3 all the time. Does going up a steep hill cause the car to eat up gas quicker?

I've been getting around 18mpg for the past 2000 miles with freeway/city driving. I wish i got 20mpg... maybe i should drive less aggressively

Of course because your engine is working harder. Do you drive uphill all day?

Yeah I got crappy mileage too. I even try driving really gas efficiently, but I still can barely get 300 miles to a tank. I average around 250 to a tank.
