It used to happen all the time on Datona beach way back when.
People would park their cars with no idea how far the tide would actualy rise and go for a walk up the beach.

There were always a few tow trucks waiting to make a few bucks,

anyways, I've seen a 4Runner get stuck in the tide at Ocean Shores so it coulda happened to anyone, luckily a H1 was there with a winch

 

Even though these guys in the video probably had support vehicles, etc... for those saying he's stupid for being at a beach with his G...


Now the selection of the beach is something I cannot comment on...
