I'm thinking about picking up a set of Vossen 083. I think they look nice (going for more of a VIP look) at a very reasonable price around $1800 shipped. What do you guys think?

Didn't know it was a crime to make a thread asking for an opinion. So many immature kids on this forum thinking they are the sh*t big talkers behind their keyboard no wonder the 350z forums is full of drama all the time.
^if you dont get volks, works,or any "Baller" rims triple8Sol will make smart remarks no matter what...
but i like the first set of rims better then the 2nd

cast,forged....one piece, two piece, 3 piece.....we all have different budgets and preferences. youve got your mind made up on what you wanna spend already.i would prefer a nice set of volks but im not at a point in my life where i feel comfortable spending 3500 on wheels. i dont drive much so i felt comfortable with a one piece cast wheel and couldnt be happier so dont let that scare you. just be cautious of the road and what lies ahead.
if youre looking for something classier, id say number 1. the second ones are a little more sporty IMO. I like the second ones

Personally I'm not a fan of Volks or Work wheels as compared to IForged/DPE/HREs, but I'm not trying to spend 5k+ on a set of wheels rather spend it on other things. If you like Volks or Works thats cool personal tastes. Does that mean I can't afford it? No. Too many people on the forums hate on others just because their wheels are more expensive? Thats like saying g37 > g35 because its newer and more expensive? Same concept.
first one does look a little more classier on the black, but I like the spoke design of the second one as well tough choice

I like the 2nd ones. Depends on how much they are. IMHO, I'd rock used set of higher quality wheels vs lower quality new ones.
I don't really get the "can't afford expensive wheels hating thing really". I'm flexible to a point about it. I run forged oem 19s because they are affordable, forged and light. Alot of these "expensive" wheels are just that, expensive. Which IMHO serves no real pupose of buying them. Alot of guys don't even know the weights of the wheels they are buying so again, what's the real point other than their cost? I would hazard to guess that buying these new wheels with new tires would cost as much as some people here pay for used Volks etc.. with tires. Can't be a "I pay more than you thing"
Expensive wheels general get you great quality and sometimes light weight. IMHO, alot of it is status and bragging rights. Which is fine if you are into that sort of thing.

I think the first set look good, 2nd set look OK. Alot of guys who mod their cars do it to be different than other cars on the street, not to be just like the rest of everybody on g35driver with volks/works. And for those who think cast can mean crap, you are right and wrong. Cast wheels made by bbs/work/volk/rays are MUCH better than replica cast wheels like sevas/axis/ADR/TSWs. There's no comparing the quality of the first set to the 2nd. I had a set of Volk GT-7s which were forged barrels and cast inners and they were very durable. Hit many potholes, never had a bend. Also had a set of Rays G games and the same went for those. Then I moved onto a set of Work T1s and they again were very durable and NEVER bent or nothing.
The problem is the cast wheels that use cheap materials/alloys such as the 2nd group mentioned. To compare the first set to the second is unfair in my opinion. Where Vossen stands I dont really know as they are a pretty new company. However, unlike Sevas I see them on many forums and they seem to provide good customer service. In the end, what matters is what YOU like and the level of customer service the vendor/manufacturer provides.
The same argument holds true for many parts like the coilover vs spring/strut combo battle. Coilovers are overkill for those who dont track, people who just want the appearance can go with a matching shock/strut combination...
Typically the track junkies are the one's who really press the issue of lightweight/forged rims as well as coilovers/corner balancing and a BBK. However, alot of people who mod do it for looks, dont really care about adding 50lb wheels/tires to each corner. They are more into 'flossing'
