Exactly my thoughts initially, only thing about doing it gloss black, gloss tends to make the slats "fatter" looking compared to matte and the reason I want to paint it black is to take attention off the center slats and focus more on the upper/lower chrome and the emblem.

i was at the one in fife/tacoma but any of them should have at least one car with it.
