the smart part of me wants bigger calipers up front
but the lazy section doesn't like brake dust either

DIY or getting it done? It is not easy, at least 6 hours if you've never done it before...
And you might as well throw on some headers while you're doing it to get the best gains.

As for which is best, the NA build section on my350z has some good info.
http://my350z.com/forum/na-builds-498/

IMO its not worth the $$, but it will be fun.
11:1 forged pistons, headwork, AND cams would be filthy tho.

Oh and you'll need a retune after

this sums it up pretty well:
Headers and cams there is a lot of power on the table when you do a little research. Alone however they are both almost useless. The trick to this area is to get an intake setup (manifold) that plays well with the cams and headers, as a package they can yield decent improvements. But beware, the cams are costly and the labor to install them is also expensive
Can't beat the Cosworth intake manifold

I know its not going to be cheap...but with an NA build you have only so many options ( i have CAI, crawford gen 1 upper plenum, exhaust, will be getting resonated test pipes around xmas, only thing missing is headers for air flow)...and reading the modified article is what got me interested...i heard headers on a DE motor don't make that much of a difference..kind of like the MREV manifold...minimal gains...if i go pistons as well..11:1 compression..then am i looking at stroking the motor to or will those just drop in...i already have a tune and was expecting to redo the tune once the cams are installed...just getting a feel for different options...and no..FI is not one of them..lol

High compression NA build is not the same as a stroker, thats an easy $4000 more

New pistons and rods don't exactly just drop in either, you have to pull the motor, take it all apart, send it to the machine shop to get honed and whatnot, then put it all back together. If you decide to put in pistons you will end up building the whole bottom end (pistons, rods, bearings, head gasket/studs). To make the most of all this you will also need to get the heads worked, thats another $2000. Airflow is the key with NA builds.

You'll want to rev it out to make power so new cams, valves, valve springs and retainers..

Then you will be making some good NA power all the way to 8000 rpm
