i am looking at the brian crower stage 2 cams...there lift is less than 11mm so i can retain factory valve springs and retainers..if i go higher than 11mm then i will have to get the heads reworked...you think just the cams or the springs and retainer kit also ???? i don't want to get in way over my head...i don't want to tear up the whole bottom end..just get some nice gains ..they claim 15-20 rwhp...and why valves ???

reworking the heads has nothing to do with the profile of the cams, it just makes them flow better at higher RPMS.

You can do just cams and keep the factory valve springs/retainers, but to make good power NA you have to rev to motor, and the factory valve train isn't going to support that.

i believe the lift of the cams affects the head cause there will not be enough clearance if lift is greater than 11mm...so i read..either that or i don't know what im talking about and am full of sh#t.......lol

Assuming you can do all the labor yourself it won't be too bad, but a true dual exhaust will definitely be a more proven way to see gains.

Start with the easy stuff first lol

Seymore. Looking at the came valves and springs as a package. I'm.asking cuz I.don't.know. still learning but when I.get.the cams installed valves are right there to do rite. Or am I way off. Cuz the springs and retainers r rite there. And I hav a true dual exhaust. Running ingen.

yeah pretty much. if you're putting new cams in it would be easiest to do valve springs and retainers at the same time, but you don't necessarily have to, depending on the cams you choose.
I would do new valves too because they're relatively cheap and you'll be there anyways.

Depending on what cams you choose the manufacturer will tell you if you have to change/upgrade other components, just make sure you read the fine print

I've seen brand new motors junked because someone put in too aggressive of a cam for the set up and the valves tapped the pistons
