Its the whole exhaust bro...cali has the tightest rules for air quality so most states just follow theirs. There is no difference in exhaust between a car bought in cali or wa. just depends on what you do to it afterwards. There are mods you can buy which are CARB legal which means you wont have trouble with smog. But most new cars they just plug the OBD into the port and check that way.they don't use sniffers in WA. So whatever mods you have arent throwing off the ecu you will be fine. If you have issues with leaving carbon footprints...then you're driving the wrong damn car...like shank said...78 priuses in one trip...dont become 79. hope this helped.

Does anyone know where does all the Cali-restrictive crap sit on the exhaust anyway ?

Thanks guys

Cats are catalytic converters.. they are positioned in the exhaust to help burn off and remove excess fuel from the exhaust fumes before they enter the muffler to reduce emmisions.

Um, ok? Great 1st post, in the local section that you're not local to, referencing a comment that was an obvious inside joke among the local guys. I have a custom dual 3" straight exhaust and all the local guys know that.

ahh ok, good to know
Thanks a bunch man, definitely appreciate it

I'm still learning the ins & outs of the G as I go along

and so far I'm flummoxed by how I can never get the gas tank to top off. At every fill up, the pump shuts off as it should but when I get in and look @ the gauge its always an eighth off. I've even tried pumping some more in manually but it just won't go any further (pun unintended)

ROFLMAO @ the 78 Priuses ... nothing pisses me off more than those goddamn sewing machines on rickshaw suspension dawdling around in the passing lane. And some of them actually try to speed up when ya try to pass them

p.s.
If one could convert into fuel the miasma of self-satisfaction hovering over a smuggery of Prius drivers, any energy crisis would be averted

You might have a fuel level sensor issue like my wife. I asked a Nissan tech and he said they commonly saw that issue. He was referring to her FX35...but logic holds that it may be the same problem with your car. When we get some extra cash (my mods are done LOL) I will probably get the unit replaced
