no front license plate ticket in PDX

has anyone got a ticket for no front license plate? I heard if you take a pic and send it or show the court, they will drop the fees?

i really dont want to shell out 150 bucks for something so stupid.

yeah the're becoming ****'s in Portland, I remember a couple months ago when I was at PSU and saw the traffic cop walking around checking all the parked cars... I asked her and apparently the city feels the need to tax the citizens to much that they passed a new law allowing them to ticket parked cars I'm registered in WA so I got away at the time but she said they'll be cracking down more in the future.

You should be able to put a plate on, take pictures and go to court. Say that the bracket broke and it fell off or something and you've since got it fixed. Should get out of it

In WA that's how it worked for me, had my plate in the car, went to the court, showed them a pic of my car with it on, dropped the fine, gave me a 25$ fee to pay for the paperwork or something. Beats 125$.

$150?? i got a couple in july and they were no more than $55. thats crazy if it went up that much that fast. ive heard the pic thing works though. i never tried because i figured it wasnt worth the hassle of taking off work since i figured i woulda lost out on more money than the ticket was worth. for $150 id def give it a try though.

Go to court with a picture of your car with the front plate on. The judge should waive the ticket and youll just pay the filing fees

Last I read the law stated the vehicle has to come equipped with a mounting location for the front plate but if it does not have it when you purchase the vehicle then they cannot enforce it. In other words if it did not have it from the factory due to being sold in a particular state then they will not require you to modify the vehicle in order to accommodate it.

That's how it used to be a few years back but it's certainly possible they have changed it...?

Funny enough, got pulled over this morning in south center from a WSP;

For not having licenses plate on the front, and a tail light out... amazing how he didnt ticket me for my civics fartcannon... He just gave me a warning, tail light must have gone out that day too, pretty weird.

Don't come out to Whidbey Island... This place is crawling with law.. Got pulled over the other day for tinted taillights and modified exhaust. The usual, "everything is on order" reply.. lol. No ticket though.

should be a non-moving violation, just pay the fine and it goes away, not 100% sure tho
