NOS Forum Fest 2011 : Drifting Details!

6/14/2011 : Sorry for the delay, I kinda got into this about 24 hours ago so here's what I know for sure so far...

6/16/2011 : Met with the powers that be, figured things out, and we're well on our way to having another fun filled event! A few of you will have an opportunity to drive for FREE. Read to the end for more details!

Registration will close on the 21st of June 2011

DATE : 25th June 2011
Venue : Pacific Raceways
Time : 9AM - 5PM

PRICES :

Driver : $85, includes ONE Crew
Spectators : FREE
Parking : $4 - $5 depending on lot location
MEDIA : Shoot Me a PM with your Full Name and Online Portfolio!

Folks :

The once a year occasion is upon us again @ Pacific Raceways! I'll keep this simple ~ As far as the drifting goes, all the drivers will need registration approval prior to registration thru this registration link first. Under the "Drifting Rules" is a text box in which you MUST be as specific as possible when entering your submission.

There will be no refunds, exchanges or substitutions once registration is made. Payment details will follow as and when it is made clear to me.

Driver entry fees will include both the driver and ONE other person as their crew.

There will be 2 run groups : Novice and the Advanced / Pro-Am. There will be multiple sessions per group throughout the day but all drivers MUST attend the driver's meet @ 0900 HRS to be able to drive on the track. If you're not there at roll call during the driver's meet @ 0900, you're not driving on the track thereafter.

Additionally, here are some additional requirements / notes :

Pre-Requisite : All applicants are RECOMMENDED to have a minimum of 3 events @ Evergreen / Cellblock D / Bremerton / SCCA (combination) in the last 12 months up to the event date before being able to attend this event. Cumulative PGP experience with one of the above would also suffice. Current FD License holders are exempt from this requirement.

*EDIT : In the interest of time, since this all has been rather last minute, I'm WAIVING the pre-reqs. If you feel like you're up to it and assume the risk(s) involved, feel free to sign up. This is a ONE TIME EXCEPTION, only for this year.

Inspection : All vehicles that will be drifting will go through a standard tech inspection. Additionally, should there be any leaks at any given time during the event, the vehicle will be turned back to the pits and have such said leaks addressed. Vehicles with leaks shall stay OFF the track until which time they don't leak anymore. If leaks are not addressed before the end of their run group, they forfeit their spot and will not be allowed to be transferred to the next, so make sure you don't have any - NO EXCEPTIONS.

Safety : At least one IN CAR fire extinguisher is to be included this year. There will be a visual check performed during tech inspection. Extinguishers should be easily accessible and mounted securely, and within easy reach of the driver.

Another question is if a cage is required. I'm told by the powers that be that "cars need to be caged to run tandem." So in short, no, you do not need a cage to run individually, but I shall strongly urge you to get one in the interest of your own safety before the event. We all remember what happened to Andrew in his 350Z last year, and I'm quite certain things would have been far worse if he didn't have have that cage installed days before the event.

Tandem is permitted ONLY for the Advanced / Pro-AM Drivers!

ETIQUETTE :

1) SPINS : If you spin out twice per run, do not attempt to finish the run and proceed to your next staging area.

2) MOVEMENT AREA : While traveling from the pits to the staging area and vice versa, note that there's an enforced 5 MPH speed limit. If PR's marshals call in to say you've violated their rules, you might be pulled off the track. This also applies to excessive revving and burnouts track-wide and please, please DO NOT try to drift in the pits in an attempt to cool your motor down...

3) Cleanup : At the end of each run group, there will be another roll call for all drivers and they will be required to clean up portions of the track. This would be good for all involved and will also show the track operators that we're not just a bunch of kids looking to have fun and leave our messes behind.

DRIVER DETAILS :

1] Gates open @ 7AM for drivers to get in, and get through tech. All drivers will have to go through the same lines as the drivers who are planning to run the drags. Please print out a copy of your email confirmation receipt to avoid any confusion at the gate. Expect lines and wait times to be long. As for you drifter folks, you'll be directed to the "Drifting Pits" which is the semi-circular bowl at TURN 8. See enclosed picture.

2] In-car passenger (x1) is considered crew. That would be ONE passenger. They get to go in with you @ 7AM. Doors open for everyone else @ 9AM, so if you need help setting up, make sure they are WITH YOU when you check in. Crew is allowed to be in a SECOND / support vehicle. Spectators are allowed in only after 9AM, and parking is $5 (for preferred lots) and any spectator will have access to the pits.

3] Drivers Meeting for the drifters is @ 9AM @ Turn 8. ALL DRIVERS ARE MANDATED to attend this meeting. If you're not at the meeting, don't expect to drive so plan to get there well ahead of time.

4] Tech Inspection : amongst other things, the crew will be looking out for a) DOT / SNELL approved helmets, b) battery tie-downs, c) LEAKS. Should there be any leaks at any given time during the event, the vehicle will be turned back to the pits and have such said leaks addressed. Vehicles with leaks shall stay OFF the track until which time they don't leak anymore.

5] MISC : NO PASSENGERS ALLOWED while on the road course! Drivers under 18 will require one parent to be ON SITE to sign waivers...
