If you're looking for an entry level DSLR, then you can't go wrong with Canon's or Nikon's entry levels. Don't let the "entry level" part get to you. They're quite powerful little suckers.

 

John, the camera that I had with me last time you cleaned my car was an entry level camera, a Nikon D40. Either that one or the Canon entry level would be an awesome camera to pick up. Both Canon and Nikon are introducing new entry levels soon, so you should be able to find a good deal on previous models, which are still very nice cameras.

If you get the Canon, then pick up Cal's lens listed in this thread

 

I have two digital camers that I need to sell first. After that, I will look into the entry level dslrs.
