Quote: ^have you ever installed a BBK?
and do you have a bleeder.?
if so ill take you on that deal
Not a bbk but I have replaced rotars and calipers before and have changed the breaks since I was 10. My brother and I are installing Dals old/now resurfaced flywheel and clutch in a month or so when i can get back home to use his lift. As for the bleader, no i dont have one, but have always wanted one so i'd just buy it.

Quote: Hey Ben, could we meet up at some point to do that Z tube? I could really use your help! Should I get a k&n drop in to go with it?

I live off Georgesville.
I have a stillin intake you could add to that z-tube and Ill intall it for free.

A Z-tube install should be no more than a 15 minute endeavor even for those who have NO wrench experience whatsoever.
DIY Install Guide w/ solid step by step photos.
Need a couple socket wrenches, couple screwdrivers, and a set of pliers...

As for K&N filters, tons of people run them and swear by them as adding power...I remain exceedingly skeptical.

I for one do not and do not recommend running any type of oiled air filter (K&N being one of them). The oil that you use to impregnate that type of filter to trap particles eventually bleeds from airflow and coats the inside of your intake tube (in your case your new Z-tube). This doesn't really create a problem in and of itself, but if the oil does coat your MAF sensor that is located in the plastic assembly directly next to the filter, then you have a larger problem.

I have talked to many Infiniti and Nissan techs, and of the MAF sensor problems they have encountered nearly EVERY one with an aftermarket air filter has been oiled. IMO getting a K&N for performance gains is ridiculous. You might gain 1hp somewhere in your powerband which is indistinguishable in the real world. Frankly you'd be better off driving naked to save weight...
I recommend sticking with the OEM filter or picking something like Amsoil nano filter (what I run). The air filter more important for actually filtering harmful particles from getting into your engine rather than a way to create power. But like I said, people swear by K&N, but I'm not going to look for an air filter to add horsepower...

Quote: Hey, thanks everyone for all the offers for help with installing the mods. Maybe I'll just stay away from the "stealership" and save my money for 6000K HIDs!

Mike, I'll PM you for more info if you're still interested for Saturday afternoon. I don't want to take too much of your weekend time (I think I saw you have a wife and kids). Would we be able to do the SRI or the grille pretty easily maybe in 1-2 hours?

Ben, maybe whatever is unable to be done in Louisville, if you're free in the next week or so I can stop by and install with you.

I think I saw something about a group install in April. If people want, I can wait for the Kickplates until then - that way if others want to see how they are installed they can also learn too.

Thanks again guys!

So I know this probably isn't the right thread for this question, and I'm sure this topic has been beaten like a dead horse, but I'm having a really hard time deciding between a CF ztube/revup box/dropin filter and a Furookie intake w/ the Amsoil filter. I'm almost positive as to which one I'm leaning towards, but I was curious what take you guys have on each setup.

I would imagine the ztube/revup box has more performance gains overall(though it might be pretty negligable in reality), but the Furookie is just so damned pretty. Please enlighten this poor soul who has no idea what he is doing. I'm planning on pulling the trigger on one of these on Friday, and I've already flip flopped more than a girl on prom night going to the dance with an ugly guy, but has had one too many to drink (Should I sleep with him? Shouldn't I? Well, I'm already wasted and it IS prom...). Btw the Furookie in this analogy is getting wasted and sleeping with this dude. At least in my mind.

Oh, I just purchased an 06 5AT coupe. That's probably pretty important.
