Talking My Crazy Ideas..I want your thoughts

I have decided to sell my swapped RS b.c we don't drive it much and things change in life. Now here is my crazy situation.

A guy wants to buy my RS but he would pay via trading a paid off 07 Honda Fit with 43k miles and $3k in cash. I love my G but I don't want the fit so I was thinking about doing a little upgrading to the G as follows.

If I got the fit I would trade it in plus my 05 G35x for a newer G35 or FX35. The goal is to not have to put any cash on top of trading the 2 cars in if at all possible. Here are the 5 cars I have narrowed it down to.

07 G35S 6mt Navi 30,797 miles Black/Black asking price $25,945

07 G35S Auto Certified 37,782 miles Gray/Gray asking price $22,995

05 FX35 AWD 36,598 miles Silver/Black asking price $25,395

07 G35x 46,994 miles Gray/Gray asking price $22,999

and the oddball

04 FX35 AWD 51,028 miles Orange/Orange asking price $20,995

My #1 choice would probably be the 6MT but not sure about a manual as a DD anymore. I could get the G35S auto but if I'm getting an auto I minds well just get an X right?

I still like my G but upgrading in years/less mileage wouldn't be bad either. I don't have to accept this guys offer but he really wants the car and I wouldn't mind a car upgrade plus some extra cash too. What would you guys do, trade for something newer, if so, which one or hold out for a cash buyer for the RS?

True although I do have a set of snow tires that I could use if I needed to go out. There is also a very very slight possibility we will be moving to SC for my husbands job so the S would be perfect if that happened.

I have had both an 08 G35x and an 09 G37x as loners and they were both nice. I would love to get a 37x but don't really want to spend any extra cash for the time being. I also drove an 08 G35xS which I loved so that is why I think the RWD S would be fun too. Ah so many different pros/cons, guess I need to start calling the dealers to see if they would even do the trade.

Here are a couple more things to throw in to the mix. I don't mind going on a road trip to pick up a car. I went to DC for my LGT wagon and to Alabama for the RS.

09 G37 Auto 22,919 miles Gray/Gray asking price $26,994

09 G37 Auto 15,161 miles Black/Tan asking price $25,995

09 G37 Auto 9,979 miles Red/Gray asking price $26,999

07 G35S 6MT 43,920 miles Black/Black asking price $19,900

With a stock grill or this one painted black it would look better.

I think if your gonna upgrade you need to get a G37x. Preferably a S. I think in the long run youll be happier with it.

That's a lot of horse-trading to get what you want. Why not have (help?) your guy sell his Fit and pay you cash. I think you'll lose money with all the trade-ins and to my knowledge sales guys don't like cash-less trade-ins unless they can REALLY bend you over, I mean, more than usual. JMHO. X or XS would be my choice, as well.

I agree with both of you and that is why I am kind of hesitant to do anything at this point as far as trading. It is just an option and I told the guy I would look into it. Now if I sold both the G and the RS outright or the G and Fit outright I could have more then enough cash to buy a 37 or a 35xs but not sure I would use the money on a car if I had the cash in hand b.c I would probably just keep my G and put the $$ in the bank instead.

any btw, a G35 on winter tires will always preform better than an X with all seasons.

but I like your thinking Amy. I do wish you the best with the deal, which ever you go with. I say the 6MT is the only way to go, because you are more connected to car (from a driver's stand point), but then again, there is someone above this post that doesnt look back when opting for the auto with paddles!

Well both of the g35S's were sold as I was talking to the person on the phone. I really don't know what I'm going to do. My budget is $25k for the car before tax b.c I don't want to spend any other money besides what is already tied up in cars. If I can't do anything with that then I won't.

Front runners for me are the FX35's b.c I really like them and should have driven one before I bought my G. The only other thing left is that 07 X b.c of price. I have a feeling I'm keeping my 05 and you know what, that is perfectly fine with me too

FX's are nice. My dad has an FX identical to what you listed. It is what made me decide I wanted an infiniti. I would have went with an FX but I didn't want to have the same vehicle as him and I also wanted a coupe so I went with the G.

So if you trade in the 2 cars are you going to get anything out of them? I mean some of the cars a posted were like 30k so i you can get 5k out of the 2 then your back in the 25k range.
